Still bloated after gallbladder removal?

Hello guys it's me again. So I have been having a couple of issues after my gallbladder removal on August 5th. My stomach seems to feel very full now. This happened maybe 3-4 days after my surgery. I also started getting nauseous. But what bothers me the most is this bloated feeling. It's very uncomfortable and I can't eat much because I feel so stuffed and the nausea makes it worse. If I do try to eat my stomach literally feels like it's about to burst and it makes it hard to breathe. I've been walking here and there maybe 20 blocks each time as I was told walking will make the gas leave. But I feel so bad I'm not sure if anyone has experienced bloating this long? A friend of mine said her bloating and has left in a week. Is it possible to take ginger ale to help me burp, maybe gas x, anything? I just want to feel good again and I honestly feel sick. Don't think I'm constipated and I've been having bouts of diarreah and soft stool.

Had mine out years ago yes bloat stays for awhile I did walking n firmly pressing/rubbing down ward on my stomach to get air to move. A lot of air is from the surgery itself n that's what ur trying to push out.

Hey, how is everyone feeling at this point? I got my gallbladder taken out Monday and am having heartburn, weird taste in mouth and pain in upper back. I also have the fullness like I cannot eat much as well. I've had all of these symptoms before and was wondering if the surgery didn't even do anything. I'm hoping this goes away and can finally be a normal person after so many years of restricting. Does/did anyone else get a weird gnawing or hunger like pain? I would have weird pains that didn't go away no matter how much I ate and still had it after surgery.. I couldn't take the Norris because of it and now it's been replaced with the opposite feeling of complete fullness.

I know how you guys feel. I've been dealing with issues on and off for years now. I haven't eaten any "bad" food for 6 months. I just wanted this surgery to be the answer and it's so depressing to think it didn't help. It's exhausting.

I went thru very similar symptoms as you. I had my surgery this past Thursday. So I am on day 8. Today has been the first day of halfway feeling normal. I would eat 1/2 piece of toast and be sick feeling from eating too much. Today I was able to eat eggs and toast and did not feel sick. So it will get better. For some reason the drs don't tell you all the stuff to expect, thank God for this site. It makes it a lot easier. I was worried I would be like this forever. But it does get better. Hang in there.

Hi Deborah...does the area were the gallbladder sits still feel like it was in there causing pressure against your ribs? At first I assumed it was from the areas were the stitched are but looking at the stitched there not even close...its uncomfortable for my breast to even put any pressure on my rib in that area..i had that before surgery.

I don't have that problem. But when the drs did the laparoscopic surgery, they did a lot of digging around, they inflated your abdomen with air. So it could be several different things. I'm having more pain and discomfort around my naval, with a huge bruise. I had a very large gallstone, is why I had my gallbladder removed. Now that I'm on my 8th day after surgery, I am actually starting to feel much better. I am able to eat without total discomfort. But my energy level is not anywhere near normal yet.

One more thing, it takes about five days to get rid of the air that they put in your abdomen, this may be the cause of your pain.

Hey Kayla. So I've been pretty much feeling sick and stuff. I still feel so full mostly and also nauseous. It is incredibly hard for me to eat. I also suffer from emetophobia which makes my anxiety skyrocket when I feel sick, thinking I'll throw up. I have no idea whats wrong with me and why this fullness feeling won't leave me alone. I feel so stuffed and sick when I eat. The feeling remains for ariund 3-4 hours. I feel like I'm suffering so much and I just ask why. This surgery was supposed to fix me I believe but instead, I feel so bad still. I feel so depressed and sad all the time. I have no idea what to do now.. I've gotten all these tests and everything is fine. Something has got to give though. I won't end up feeling bad for the rest of my life, that I know but I would like some answers asap. Even if I don't ever feel 100% good at least a 80 would suffice. Wish this nausea and fullness would leave, the feeling is dreadful. I would for once again like to eat a normal sized meal and actually feel good full and not sick. There's this random dull ache in my stomach like something is in there bothering me but I'm not sure what it is. I was told it was due to surgery and it will pass. But when is my question?

Hi, so sorry you are feeling this way. The fullness is awful, I have felt like this for a few days mainly after I have eaten just a small meal. Today I decided to drink more water before during and after I had eaten. I do feel better. The plus side is I didn't overdo it on food so I'm hoping my stomach mightvget used to smaller meals. I still haven't been able to wear my bra it rubs on the top scar! Keep positive you will get better,

Claire, if you only knew how positive I've been trying to stay. I'm really trying to hard here. At one point, I feel like giving up and just not doing anything for myself. Not eat, not go to any appointments; just stay in bed all day. I honestly wish whatever I had would leave and vanish out of my body and leave me alone. I feel so malnourished as I can't eat like before. I swear I don't remember the last time I had a normal sized meal. It makes me so sad. I just want to be like I used to. I look so boney, I've lost all my muscle fat and it's just gross to see myself I think. I've gone down from 140 to 97-101. Or fluctuated from months ago. If this fullness feeling doesn't leave I think I'll just go Insane. Same goes for the nausea. My stoamch is currently making all these growling and wailing noises. I was about to have a snack earlier and suddenly I felt so sick and gross ihad to stop and come lay down. How on earth will I have dinner tonight I wonder.

You should get some anti nausea meds from the dr. Your nausea seems pretty bad. The drs should see that something is very wrong with all the weight you have lost. Go to the ER. Perhaps someone there can help you more. I wish I had lost 49 lbs with my surgery. But one thing I found out after my surgery was that even if I felt nauseous, if I made myself eat something I felt better. The nauseousness feeds off of not eating also. Try making yourself eat regardless of how you feel.

I currently take zofran either 4mg or 8mg. Seems to help but when my anxiety gets bad I feel even worse. I just want to get better that's all. Would love to stop feeling nauseous and also for my stoamch to stop feeling so full and gassy all the time. It's so frustrating and takes a toll on my mental health honestly.

It will get better. Today is day 10 for me. I am almost back to normal. My nauseousness is gone and I actually went out for a little bit. You will get better. Hang in there and make yourself eat. You will feel better once you start eating more.

Definitely! Change drs and see if they can change things around for you.
