Swollen lymph nodes for 7-8 years

Hello,

I'm a 22 year old male and as the title says I have had swollen lymph nodes in my neck and armpits for almost 8 years. It started when I was around 15 years old with a one or two nodes getting swollen in my neck. The GP said it was nothing so I haven't paid any more attention to them. Over the following few weeks I noticed a few more in my neck and a few in my armpits. They are around 0.5cm - 2.5cm in size, hard, painless and movable and haven't changed in these 7-8 years. I have no other symptoms.

Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Ivan

I've struggled so much with health anxiety! I have had every blood test avaliable. My doctor reassures me that some people may have larger lymph nodes than others and for some they may be easier to feel.

I have swollen lymph nodes under my jaw and down my neck. I was convinced it was cancer or HIV or something but all tests show uo negative.

I am 22 also and I can totally relate to how you're feeling. Sometimes anxeity actual makes your symptoms worse. Try to not touch them which will eventually help you stop worrying. If you need more reassurance go back to your doctor just to put your mind a rest.

But after all the research I've done its quite common for people to have 'swollen or large glands' even though it say's it might be something dangerous.

Oh try not to google anything it will drive your mind crazy!

    hope this helps.

Phew! This was really helpful. You sure that it's normal for people to have swollen lymph nodes, right?

Hey i know this post is from a long time ago, but i just wanted to say i've always had these large lymph nodes under my jaw since i was a child, and i use to always play with them. It wasn't until i was older when i learnt what they were and heard they were something to worry about. Long story short im a healthy 21 year old, And they are still quite large compared to the average person. It's something very easy to be worried about, if you google it can be quite dramatic. hope this helps.

    Hello,

I'm a 24 year old male and I have had a swollen lymph node on my left forearm for the last 16 years. I noticed a couple of years ago that I also have swollen lymph nodes on my biceps, forearm and back.

The one on my forearm (since 16 years) is totally painless, apart from some days when it pains for a few hours.

I tried reading about swollen lymph nodes and it all points to Lymphoma. However, this thread really gives me hope that it's nothing too serious.

    A few questions:

    1. Is it normal to have swollen lymph nodes permanently?

    2. Do I need to visit a doctor for the same?

    3. Can it be diagnozed by a simple CBC blood test?

    Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone. I am a 25 year old female and have swollen lymph nodes behind my ears for about a year now. I also noticed a swollen red circle on my forehead just above my eyebrows after a flight I took about 5 months ago. I've been to ENT, allergist and dermatologist. I got a CT scan of my sinuses and about 13 blood tests and everything came back fine. My health anxiety has been through the roof though! I hate that no doctor can tell me why these things are there. I felt fine for a while, but since my anxiety has been really bad, I have now been having muscle twitching. Apparently anxiety can cause this, but I am so scared. Going back to the doctor soon sad

Hi Ali, I've also had swollen lymph nodes for months now. I've had blood tests and ultrasounds and my doctor says I'm fine and that lymph nodes are very prominent when you are young. I also suffer from health anxiety and from reading these posts it is really comforting that lots of people are in the same boat as me. It is one of the most frustrating things when doctors tell me I'm fine but have no answer to why I have these symptoms (seems to happen constantly). The doctor asked me at my last appointment whether they have been getting bigger recently which has also made my anxiety go through the roof as I keep constantly checking if they have been getting bigger! My sister (a doctor) thinks that I swap my worries about work with worries about health, maybe this applies to you also? The feeling of uncertainty is horrible and I'm so glad there are people to relate to.

      hi. I got some advices:

Stop seeing those doctors, sue them for making u worry and wasting ur time too, get some profits from it lol

go to see a holistic doctor, tell them u have these lumps for a long time and u wanna get rid of it, they should be able to do it (these lumps are harmless btw, but stll very annoying, it freaks u out right? and make us differ from others too)

don't forget to thank me if it helps :D

      good luck

I developed swollen nodes in chin and neck after first cold sore infection almost 2 months ago. Cold sore got better in 2 weeks but nodes still swollen and tender . they did reduce after antibiotics but haven't gone away and are still tender to touch. My primary doctor doesnt have a clue and suggested I see an infection specialist. I am totally healthy otherwise. I have taken appointment with an ENT. But these are freaking me out. Those of you who had them for longer time, were these tender or totally painless for you ?

Hey I m 15 years old and i had lymph nodes on left side of my neck since i was 14. They are not going away. Everyone is right about not searching on internet because it makes you feel worse. I m very tensed. I went to the doctor he gave me certain medicines but it did not get away. When i again went to the doctor he said its not a matter to worry. The lymph nodes are movable and sometimes that area of my neck pains a lot. I think its permanent and a matter not to worry about. What do you guys think?

Hi Guys...hope you guys are still active in this forum..some are from years ago..some are from few month ago...i'm so concerm because me too had a swelling lymph node at the right side of my throat sad im 31 years old this year and just relized it 2 month ago..at first i was thought it was nothing, untill i had googled it and that scare the heck out of me..

i went and consult a doctor and he says that was nothing to worry about..so he gave me antibiotic, vitamin C, and multi vitamin to consume for one week. So everytime i touch the lymph on my throat it trigger my anxiety with full panic feelings! cant even have a good night rest, wake early in the morning with pounding heart...So i cant stand it and went to consult a different doctor the next day, this doctor too say it was nothing to worry about, nothing threatening he says. So he gave me medicine for relax down my anxiety, and also a pain killer for my swelling tooth gums, he say it also may due to my swelling gums and also bad oral hygiene. So he also asked me to consult a dentist for my oral treatment. But why is my swelling lymph node came first before my oral problem?? it kept me so frustrating to thinking about it that makes me lost appetite, lack focus in work, moody, and just cant relax and be my self anymore. Untill i found this forum and notice you guys had the same problems too. it really help me alot with my relief. Just hope for you guys still active in this discussion forum and we here may share thoughts together. My lymph node is tender when i touch it, quite easy to see it swell on my right side of my throat if you see it closely. How bout you guys lymph? is it tender or sort of hard?? does it feel pain when you touch it? mine are painless when its been touch, but will feel sore on that area if keep been touched. And also please dont google for anything regarding to this, it really freaks you out! sad( I also thinking to see forward and have an appointment with ENT specialist maybe next week.
