Taking Levothyroxine at night improved my life.

I was put on 50mcg of the stuff at xmas 2013, then after 3months put on 100mcgs. First of all I felt all over the place, disorientated like I had vertigo, then I changed to taking the pill last thing at night and the difference is remarkable, I wake up earlier, feel more refreshed and active, the feeling of disorientation has gone and my recent blood test was excellent and the doseage was working. Has anyone else had similar symptoms and found changing to a nightly dose has really helped them.

I asked my doctor and he said it's certainly worth trying, so I'm going to start taking my thyroxine at night from tomorrow--I'll let you know how I go in a couple of months. Thanks for posting this

I have been taking synthroid for about 30-35 years and was consistent with .125 forever. Fortunately, i had never had a reaction to this. But the endocrinologist started with very small doses and small increments. Upon entering menopause, early 50s... my thyroid went wacko. within a year i was up to .225. Twenty years later i have stablized at .175... taking synthroid. Because of medicare I was taking levo for a number of years and it kept going up and down. Going back to synthroid a year or two ago... i am now even-steven!!!
I was told by an close relative, pharmacutical distributor, to keep on synthroid [as it is consistent] the generics are very similar and possibly the same... but you don't know which one you get from the pharmacy.
Also, as soon as i started menopause I knew I would be going to an Endocrinologist as they take care of the whole body... not just your women parts, etc. The thyroid plays a big part with the petuitary and wouldn't venture forth any other way.
When i started meno I was a little depressed, as well, lots of things were going on... But i didn't want medication. After discussion with the doctor... saying "if you had diabetes... blah... blah... blah...so I started with a small dose. As the years have passed... this depression has become full fledged, unfortunately. If I forget to take my depression meds one day... the next day i feel a heavy cloud. I am not living with stress and would love to give these up.... and trying to... is not a course of action I can take... if i don't take them, i can't function. I say this because apparently this is very common as women start menopause. As a matter of fact, initially, i was concerned about having this on record with my health plan. The doctor wrote a note stating "depression due to menopause" and the plan accepted this without any increase.
Good luck out there.

I just got on thyroid meds last week.
Question....how long does it take for it to notice any change for the better?
I am also going to take your advice, and start taking it at night.
Thanks for the tip!
