Thickened endometrium

Posted , 19 users are following.

please can you help me as I'm sat here crying I'm so worried!

today my doc told me I have a thickened endometrium which is causing my bleeding . She was very blunt when she said I would need to go in hospital for a biopsy to rule out uterine cancer!! She said she was referring me as an urgent case as the waiting list is quite long. What's the chances of it being cancer? I was hoping it was all part of my peri menopausal stage! I'm nearly 47 x

Hi Caz thanks so much for your lovely comment. The sensible side of me knows it's unlikely to be cancer but then I have these moments of sheer panic. Have you any idea how long this will all take? X

Hello and hope you do not mind me jumping in as well?! I know this post is old but I’m hoping someone can share insight. I’m sitting waiting for a biopsy result as we speak. Could not go to work today because my in office hysteroscopy from yesterday is hurting so badly today? I was told I had a polyp and very thick lining at 17mm. I’m 41 and not menopausal yet. They went in and could find any polyps but still said I had very thick liningsad I’m so scared. It is hard when people tell me not to freak out but that is easier said than done in my world. The worst always happened. My identical twin thought she had mono and she died of leukemia when we were 32, leaving her 2 yr old. Lucy without her mommy. My brother went in for minor hernia surgery and they overdosed him on Dilaudid after the surgery on accident. He was 43. Still in lawsuit. He was the healthiest guy alive. He pulled a muscle pulling a boat. And my Dad died two months after my beautiful brother at 70 of lung cancer but was healthy and a non-smoker. So really he died of heart break. I take care of my Mom now and she has emphysema but is luckily still healthy for having emphysema thank goodness but the only unhealthy one in the family. She quit twenty years ago. But in any case you could see how I’m doomed! Thank you for letting me jump in here!

Dear Mandy, I have just been told I must undergo a biopsy. After the initial anxiety I settled down and read up about others going through a similar situation. And really don't stress yourself. Just talk to friends and if some are medical professionals, it's better and better.

Hi, not sure if anyone will read this or not. I am 21, last month while on my period I passed a mass of flesh like clot from my vagina. After seeing my DOC I was referred for an ultrasound & vaginal ultrasound, I have now been told that the lining of my uterus is thicker than it should be and I am now being referred to gynaecology dpt to have a biopsy done of my uterus. Does anyone know what could be going on as I am pretty much lost and worried as everything I see online seems pretty awful.

    Thanks

Hello, I am currently going through the same thing. My endometrium is 18 mm and I am waiting for a biopsy. As well, dr said “I’m not saying it’s cancer and I’m not saying it isn’t” thanks I thought. I am 45 with no children.

Hi Marcy, I'm going through the same as yo at the moment, went for pelvic ultrasound radiographer didn't seem concerned, said I had a fibroid ademyosis and slightly thickened endometrium 14 mm at day 18 of my cycle, she wasn't concerned all she said that's why my periods are heavy, called dr later that day, I decided to pay private as I have health anxiety and couldn't wait 6 weeks, dr said she was referring me to a gynocologist(fast tracked) as I hit the criteria, I asked her did she think I had cancer and she said on no, I'm sure it will all come back clear, I'm out of my mind with worry I have the appointment weds, I'm can't sleep, finding it hard to eat, drinking to much alchohol to relax myself, I honestly feel doomed right now, I'm 45 to, everything you read makes you terrified, hopefully some ladies on here may comment and help reassure us sherry xxxx

Try not to worry, easier said than done I know. Dr told me it can be a number of things and I have read cancer of the uterus happens to people more after menopause so that helped me a bit. It could also be premenopause I read. Let me know how it goes.

Hi Marcy, I had my Hysteroscopy on Wednesday, I nearly walked out the hospital but my daughter and auntie made me have it done, anyway as I walked in the room I literally broke down, the gynocologist was so kind putting my mind at ease, he actually said my dr had been overly cautious and my scan looked pretty normal, anyway he said as I was there I may as well have the procedure for piece of mind, I had the procedure which was pretty painless, he said my uterus looked nice, pink and healthy, nothing suspicious just a small fibroid, he took a small biopsy for extra reassurance, after the procedure he explained everything and then said he wouldn't need to see me again, and to go and book my holiday that I had been talking about,  as you can imagine I cried with relief, I'm almost 100 per cent better, there's still that slight nagging in the back of my mind waiting for the results, I won't completely relax until I know for sure.

Well that’s great news.  What did you have a biopsy of? I go for my appt thurs the 17th and possible biopsy that day.

The lining of the womb, gynocologist said its procedure, I'm still waiting for results it's 10 days now, he said you get them back within 2 weeks, hopefully it's good news, I won't relax until I know for sure, is your appt 17 th of May ?

Hello, did you get your results? My appt is on May 17th yes. I was in the hospital last night cause I was having bad stomach and back pain and really heavy bleeding. The blood tests came back good and he did an eternal exam and said that he could be my fibroids or premenopause and wait to see the specialist. He didn’t see any masses or anything so that’s good. So your biopsy of your uterus wasn’t painful?

Hi Marcy, no  I didn't find the biopsy painful, just a sort of digging feeling, but it didn't hurt, I'm still waiting for the results 2weeks today, nurse did say they prioritise the urgent ones, so don't worry if you haven't received them within 2 weeks, so hopefully no news is good news, honestly don't worry about the biopsy I found it less uncomfortable than a smear, good luck tomorrow, let me know how it goes.
