So this is all interesting. I had my thyroid tested right about the time I was diagnosed with LS and my levels were off I guess but within a range that my Dr said she doesn't normally treat. Also, I get that throat clicking you are talking about but didn't think to mention it and wouldn't have known how to describe it but I know EXACTLY what you are talking about!

This is very interesting. I also had levels that they were watching a year or two ago but they went to a range doc was comfortable with so they stopped checking it. I've often wondered if I have under active thyroid. I have at least two aunts with thyroid issues and possibly an uncle. Also a cousin was seriously affected by hers till she got treated. My aunt says it's hard to get a proper diagnosis. Apparently Canada's threshold for treatment is such that it needs to be quite significant before they treat it! sad

How long have you had the clicking in your throat? I think mines been a half year or so.

A naturopath may be able to help with thyroid situations that are "within normal levels "

Well this is interesting, I also have nodules on my thyroid gland, at the moment they are not affecting my thyroid levels, I am beginning to  wonder if  this condition is connected to an overactive. Immune system. I love having these discussions it's amazing what similarities in general health conditions we all have, I had my gall bladder removed 5 years ago, so I know your gall bladder secretes bile which breaks down the food you eat , maybe this could be relevant to the diet issues, I had stomach troubles for years ( until they found a gall stone) have taken proton pump inhibitor tablets for years ( Lanzoprasol) , still on them because of a haitus hernia, to stop acid reflux. Who knows ! All these things may be relevant, let us all keep making comparisons ( doing the research our consultants should be doing)

I don't feel so alone anymore! Will let you know when I get my blood test results back. Do the nodules bother you? Did you also need an ultrasound?

My understanding is that there is a research proven link between LS and thyroid problems - a significant proportion of people, if they have one also have the other.  My specialist for LS made sure I had blood tests for TPO antibodies - thankfully came back ok but it shows that there are strong links between all these auto-immune conditions.  Every best wish.

They are checking my antibody levels also

Will be interesting to see what that shows.

How can I tell you how much your kind words mean! I am and was so stressed, no surprise my LS, which was doing better is flaring some today.

Good day to do something relaxing I think.

Sandra, I have a thyroid problem as well.  Started in my thirties, was originally a hyper and after RAI (Radio Active Iodine) treatment it became hypo.  At present there is more good knowledge available than thirty years ago and for the better.  I would encourage you to do some research.  A name to follow is for instance Mary Shoman (not sure about the spelling of her last name)  on her website you can find a lot of good info regarding  thyroid problems.
