Tremors (Severe) - Vitamin D deficiency

Posted , 22 users are following.

I suffered for years with tremors that increase to a total body tremor and felt unwell and fatigued... The tremors became very severe by the age of 40 and found it hard to function. It's worth looking into this - my consultant decided to look at my vitamin d levels and the result was they were so very low. After treatment with vitamin d3 high dose for over a year, my tremors have gone! The thing is that without vitamin d3 at correct levels, you are not absorbing calcium and the body will shut down without those two working together! I know my story will not help everyone, it may help those that have had lots of tests but still no answer. In any case, it is still worth getting it checked out.

Hello Cecelia, so lovely to read your kind message, thank you. How are you now? My severe to mild tremors have completely gone now... vitamin D really is essential to function normally and something I strongly believe in having gone through the mill with deficiency... it does take time to get the levels back to normal and it’s well worth the wait smile. I have been having ET for last few months to the point is affecting my work and future career. I have had extremely low Vitamin D levels where they are undetectable. My B12 levels were also down extremely low but they are back to normal now. Vitamin D is still extremely low but doctor has put me on 7000IU per day for the next 7 days. Really hoping someone has some experience with high doses, I really need to get rid of the ET to function normally. All other bloods are normal and I'm not lacking in magnesium or anything else suggested.

Congratulations Jane. So glad I found this thread so that I too can share my good news!  I’ve had an essential tremor since my 20’s and I am now 52. Over the last few years my neck started shaking so bad that it started interfering with my daily life and was very obvious. It would keep me up at night as well. Beta blockers were prescribed but I wanted to find something natural....and not drinking wine like my neurologist suggested 20 years ago. Lol. It didn’t work anyway.  After many trials, I have discovered that Shilajit is what works for me. It’s a black tar substance from Russia that contains over 80 minerals. From what I’ve read, about 25% of the world population are deficient in minerals and that would make sense with the poor quality of food available to us these days. I’m just so excited to have made the connection that this is what has been helping me after trying nearly every vitamin and herb out there. I hope this helps someone else. God bless.

I was extremely low in vitamin d as well and began taking very high doses as prescribed. New blood tests however, revealed little improvement. It was because I was not taking it with food. Please remember to take vitamin d with food and also the vit d + k2 combination is superior in my experience.

I was experiencing fatigue, weakness, and internal vibrations (internal tremors)- I went in to have my vits checked and sure enough my vit D is low. How should I start? I am going to start taking vit D of course but how much and I wonder how long it will take to kick in?

Hi, I stumbled on this post/thread upon scouring the internet regarding my symptoms. It seems that I am experiencing the same. And right now I am suspecting I also have Vitamin D Deficiency and B vitamins deficiency.

I am pretty sure I do have those because I dont go outside during the day(I am an extreme nocturnal, I actually picked working nightshifts cos I hate daytime so much). I havent been in daytime for 10 years now. I even blackout my room during the day, I dont like being striked with sunlight(I live in the tropics so the sunlight is extreme)

I also dont take any multivitamins for 5 years now, so that kinda guarantees the deficiencies.

Here are my symptoms, they are going for 4 weeks now:

Tremors - they are worse when i am lying down/resting, and much worse when I do something. When I raise my leg or arm they shake and they are weak. I also cannot stand now because of that and I am currently using a wheelchair.

Fatigue - so severe that I am drowsy and worn out all day without doing anything. I cant even take daily baths.

Out of Breath - walking to the toilet gets me winded as if I sprinted.

Palpitations - simple movement hikes up my heartbeat.

Anxiety - Comes and go, much worse when I am sleeping, I wake up having a mild panic attack and all the symptoms that comes with it.

Sleepy all the time - upon waking up 5 minutes after I am already sleepy again.

Insomnia - I find it so hard to fall asleep, I got this feeling as if I drank alot of coffee(feeling on edge, tremors, palpitations all while lying down trying to sleep) even though I dont drink coffee at all.

Headaches upon waking up - When I wake up from sleep I am having headache.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome - I have this since I was 15 years old, I am now 27 this July 17th.

I have been to doctors regarding this, all of them talked arrogantly and dismissively towards me then passing me to a Psychiatrist.

Actually I recently got back from being in the hospital for 3 days for a workup of my symptoms.

The Endocrinologist did tests on me:

    Cortisol - normal

    Thyroid Hormones - normal

    Electrolytes - normal

    Fasting Glucose - 80-100 mg/dl range.

    Glucose 2 hours after eating - 100-140 mg/dl range.

The doctor said my glucose range is normal so the tremors, fatigue and muscle weakness isnt coming from Hypoglycemia.

    Heart ECG - normal

    RBC - normal

Kidney and Liver enzymes(?) - normal

    Abdominal Ultrasound - normal

    Chest X-ray - normal

    Blood Pressure - 140 over 90 - 150 over 100 range.

Before all of the symptoms, my Blood Pressure is always on the 120 over 70 range.

The Endocrinologist concluded that I was just being anxious(he said it was all in my head), he sent me home.

I did not get any better, actually got worse.

The tremor, fatigue and drowsiness got worse.

I dont wanna go back to the doctor for a follow up since he already said im just being anxious and its gonna be a waste of time and money going back to him and getting prescribed antidepressants that I dont even need.

Now I am gonna try to supplement with Vitamin D and B Vitamins to try if I will get better.

I hope I can hear from all of you, your inputs will help me alot to figure out whats happening to me since no doctor seem to wanna find out whats wrong with my body. Its really sad.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS JANE it gave me hope! i have vitamin d deficiency , tremors and many other symptoms of vitamin d deficiency.

if vitamin d doesnt work for people can you please tell them to take these things with the D:

according to my research, vitamin d needs to be taken with these things:

lecithin to absorb (and it also recoats the nerve sheaths so helps the tremors and neuropathy) (i use soy but theres also sunflower)

magnesium to absorb (pill or dark leafy greens)

vitamin k to make it safe (puts the calcium in the bones (kale, wheat grass juice, dark leafy greens,

    or pill)

and the the calcium can go in the bones not coat our organs and joints turning us into stiff painful statues! if the d isnt working for some people maybe its because they need these co-factors to absorb it.

my vitamin d deficiency is severe and i had no idea it was causing all my problems . THANK YOU FOR THE RAY OF HOPE!!! im only 1 week in to ensuring my D levels are up and my back pain is less, my hand tremors are less, but i still shake and my back is still in severe pain so i needed to see it took a year so i dont give up
