Trochanteritis

Hi

I had a right sided posterior hip replacement in dec 2015.

Although the hip is ok i have been experiencing severe pain in the buttocks and down the right side of the leg. The pain has even travelled down my leg into my foot.

I have seen my consultant and he says it is something called trochanteritis

whic can come on after hip replacementr .

I have  had a a corterson injection into the trochanta  and am told this might help , with a further 2 injections to follow at 6 weekly intervals.

Has anyone else experienced this problem.

Kind regards

Shirley

    Hi Shirley,

i had the posterior hip replacement on the right side too in 2013.  In 2014 I had my left hip replaced from the front this time.  I was totally fine until after a long trip to Europe last October when, almost over night, i started having pain in my hamstrings (back of my thighs) and my...gluteous? I think that's the butt bone area - some days are worse than others...i have not seen the doctor, yet.  I will check online to see what this trochanteritis is, possibly it is what i have too..thanks for the info and good luck to you..

I checked Trochanteritis online and I do not think this is what I have.  I do feel some light pain in the buttocks and on my hamstrings, (the back of my thighs) sometimes on one thigh only and some days on both thighs.  I had both hips replaced with front and back procedures.  I do not feel pain walking (about 4 miles/day) or laying down, it is just a 'not quite normal' type thing that does not prevent me from living normally.   i still have not seen the doctor and not sure if I should..
