Vaginal Vitamin D?

Posted , 13 users are following.

Came across this medical/clinical trial link. Studies are for atropic vaginitis BUT I have that too!! (Wondering if many of us do...).

I could not find Vit d suppositories online - just liquid for babies and softgels.

So what say you? Should we do a group trial and put our vitamin D softgels where the sun don’t shine? 🤣

Kruth! So excited to hear! I’ll look for your updates! What is the dosage of your D softgels?  I take 5000 ui/day so that’s what I have on hand. So curious to see if this helps!! Best of luck!

I haven’t started as I was trying too many things.  and want to see how my current concoction does first.

    Hi Pat,

I read your post 2 nights ago and also took time to read the stats on the link! Thank you so much for sharing!!! I found it to be extremely interesting especially since I suffered with sever vaginal atrophy long before I was diagnosed with LS. I cannot do HRT or any type of hormone cream because I have already had to have breast surgery, my doctor says the risks are way too high. Anyway long story short, I am the guinea pig here so to speak. I have been taking 1000 mg D-3 daily so I already had the soft gels on hand. I have used them vaginally for the last 2 nights in a row. At this point I can only say I feel much more comfortable down there and that is a relief I really like! I certainly plan to continue using them and will surely keep everyone posted on how things go!!! biggrin

Oh, that's so interesting jen4377. I've just ordered some of the same and was wondering how to use them. Cut them open and spread it on but if you inserted the capsule into the vagina then I'll try that. Did the case dissolve or did it come out? Did you notice the vit d trickling out or not I wonder? Looking forward to trying it out!

Also, I can’t seem to use the hrt cream either. Bad reaction but also I’ve had leukemia and it scares me anyway even tho dr said it was fine. 💜

      Good Morning Dee,

I have been inserting the soft gel (as is) without pricking a hole in it or anything. The capsule dissolves nicely, no problem at all. I insert it after I am in bed and forget about it. And no I do not notice any trickling out while I sleep. When I wake up and stand in the morning there is some residual but not enough to be concerned about. As soon as I go pee any excess is patted away. So far so good last night was my 3rd night in a row! Y'all say a little prayer that this will work wonderfully and I will be updating if and when I have further news to report.... smile

      Hi Pat,

Oh my goodness honey if you have had leukemia I would be scared to use HRT too!!! Back when I was first diagnosed my doctor gave me a small tube of estrace and told me I could only apply it externally but if I had any spotting or noticed any traces of blood whatsoever to stop immediately. And very soon after using it I did start to notice traces of blood so that was it, the end of the hormone cream for me. I am not willing to risk it!!! Be careful sweetie...

Most of the soft gel capsules on the market contain an oil like olive, lanolin, etc. which is UV irradiated to form the Vit. D.  In Australia, the capsules are limited to 1000iu. vit. D each.

      Hi Frances,

We can get higher doses here in the US. I know I have seen anywhere from 500mg up to 2000mg.

I know some women are taking very a very high dose as for me I started out with 1000mg daily by mouth and I will continue with that as well as 1000mg inserted at night. I have high hopes that this will be beneficial as time goes along! I hope to be able to come back on here and give everyone some wonderful news.

Hi Pat,  This sounds so promising, My question is if we are using the D3 vaginally, do we also take it by mouth?  How safe is it to take it both ways.  Thanks!

I’m not sure about that either, but to be safe I would only do one or the other myself.

I have 5000 iu softgels but have not tried this method yet, just started newest protocol so am waiting...

      Hi Susan,

I am experimenting, we really don't know much about using vitamin D vaginally. Needless to say what I read on the article Pat originally posted was so encouraging I immediately opted to give it a try!

I am taking 1000 units orally. I started that a couple months back. I am going to continue with that as well as 1000 units vaginally. Our local stores carry 500 units up to 5000 units (over the counter) that being said I am not sure how much is absorbed through the skin but if the vitamin D is fully absorbed both ways that would still only amount to 2000 units per day on a personal level I don't think that is too much.

I can tell you this for sure...

My step-son just had a brain tumor removed back in October of last year and they have him on 50,000 units which he receives by prescription and I'm pretty sure that is on a monthly basis. Also last doctor visit I had with my GP I mentioned this forum as I have done several times and told her about the possible link between a vitamin D deficiency and LS. I asked her what she thought about me adding a daily dose of 1000 units of vitamin D and she was fine with it.

I am sooo hoping for some GOOD results to share with all of you!!!

      Me too Jen! Finger crossed!

Oh yes, 2000 total a day seems very reasonable and not too much at all for most.

      I’m sending positive vibes!!

Yes, apparently very much so, Susan.  All the literature I've been reading the last 7 months says that we need to be working with D3. but I don't remembers the details.

Wow, Jen.  THANKS for letting us know that EVEN Brain Tumors are being implicated in Vitamin D deficiency!! THis vitamin D business is HUGE.

I do hope you step son is progressing in his healng nicely.  Blessings

That's what I've just started doing. The gel caps are so tiny you'd barely know any different!!

      Thanks Nancy,

I am happy to report they removed a large golf ball sized tumor from the left side of his brain just above his ear, no chemo, no radiation and at his 3 month check up he was doing just fine!!! PTL!!!

that is so wonderful, Jen. My uncle died of a brain tumor and before that my dear cousin when she was so young.  NOW you have entirely fascinated me. WHAT do you suppose those neurosicentist doctors know about Vitamin D? Would love to hear what your stepson was told about that if you have a chance to ask.
