Vertigo symptoms?

Posted , 40 users are following.

My GP recommended me this site because she diagnosed me with vertigo, so I wanted to see if other people have these symptoms as well.

It started for me at the beginning of March. It was just snap bang dizziness in front of the computer screen. Then it spread out to other things, and now that I'm taking meds (Prochlorperazine), the dizziness in my head is more or less gone.

However.

My body weirdly feels dizzy when my head doesn't? E.g. I'll move my hands and they move correctly, but I think they're going further than they really are or not far enough, and my arms just feel really awkward even though they move to my commands. I always (ALWAYS) have a falling feeling, like I'm about to sink or drop, but I don't. It got really bad once at the GP's, my back felt like it would snap forwards and I would go down, but I didn't. I still feel like I'm swerving when I walk, but I know loss of balance is pretty standard for vertigo. I've never had dizziness (it's a floaty, boat swaying dizziness) until now, and am really distressed by it because it's impeding on my work.

I don't drink alcohol/ coffee or smoke, but I do drink a lot of tea. I cut down my tea now, and am just drinking water (a bit boring).

Hey All...I'm soooo incredibly happy that I have found a recent forum on these issues because I have been experiencing similar issues for approx 6 years and its been horrible.  It started off very slowly for me, like I always had the cold/flu, so I spent about a year taking nasal sprays and decongestants from an ENT.  Got sick of that and went to another ENT and he couldn't find anything.  Sent me for an MRI and that came back fine.  At this point, I'm dealing with a constant moving feeling (vertigo), like I'm on a boat but wasn't or haven't been when this started.  Got my eyes tested, had a sleep study, had all of the inner ear testings and no way, nothing was found or helped!  Got sent to a Neurologist and it was pathetic what she did.  I just gave up and didn't know what to do or where to turn, until someone told me about this gentle form of chiro, called NUCCA and that it helped some people with their dizziness.  I was at my wits end and was willing to try anything so I found a locall NUCCA doc and they found rotation and tilting in my neck from xrays.  I started seeing her for adjustments and it was like opening a can of worms, but eventually it did seem to help, until recently.  Its flared up again.  Everyday I have a feeling of movement and lately I've been having more of my fast moving episodes (strong vertigo epsiodes) that disables me.  It makes me soooo exhausted and fatiqued, I can't even function...not to mention, can't even drive.  A few years ago I had to get on anxiety medication because my anxiety was getting out of control because of all of this.  Anyway, since this has recently flared up again, I'm going back in to see a Neurologist that was recommended to me for a third/fourth opinion.  I also get twitching in my eyes and face, and also get this tingling sensation over my head and neck sometimes when the bad episodes occur.  Wish me luck with my trying to get more answers from another Neuro....I'm not expecting much from this guy, but I feel like I need to try again sad....wanted to share my story with people who are going through the same thing...I feel your pain sad....XOXO to everyone here going through this without answers.....

Hi I'm new here. Been feeling that swaying

uncertain feeling in my stomach. I get

nauseous , can't excersice or go walking ...feels as if I'm

missing my footage. It's frustrating !!  Sick of it...3 years now.

Drs say it's depression anxiety stress. Pill pushers !! I refuse.

Been to Drs ...ERs ...MRIs ...blood work...even tested to see

if I had lupus. Negative. So what is this ??? I don't understand.

It's gotten worse over the years. My neck hurts , shoulders. My

Head alwsys feel pressure ..ears feel full. Eyes hurt. Everyday

Thru out the day. I'm always tired, as if I didn't sleep. Can't really

go out, restaurants , mall ...I feel claustrophobic ...like I'm

going to collapse. Anxiety kicks in, heart pounding. It's hard to

drive but I have to. I cry and cry. It's miserable. I try so hard to

ignore it. It's always there. Feels like I'm tilting when I close my

eyes to sleep. Dr gave me blood pressure med that also helps

with anxiety.  My BP is out of whack ever since this started. My sister

said it could be my hormones.  I have a Drs appt ( new Dr) tomorrow

let's see what she has to say. I'll ask her about that. Well, take care

      Hi bear.

So sorry for all you're going thru. I've had this for 3 yrs and its misery...I can't even think of feeling like this for another 3. I went to bed at 9:30 -10 last night and I feel exhausted this morning. Ugh, frustrating. Just want to feel "normal" again.

We are going through the exact same thing. It started for me about 7 months ago, but has been more prominent in the last month. My head feels so full of pressure to where it feels as if my eyes are going to pop out of my head. My ears constantly pop and hurt. My shoulders feel stiff and my neck hurts. I was just awoken from shaking so bad in my sleep to where I thought I was having a seizure. I just don't know what to do.

      Hi Lynsey

I feel the same way , shoulders and neck pain. I truly don't know why this happened to me , us. I thought I was the only one experiencing this. I would say to myself...why can't I feel like she or he feels..normal. They're happy

It felt like I was in a box all alone. I struggle each and everyday    At times it feels like ...I don't even want to think that way but I feel like that at times...

You are not alone. The worst is when that pressure feeling is behind my eyes and everything becomes unfocused. I don't know if its BP or what. I have irrational thoughts and paranoia. Sometimes I just feel so ill. I think majority is stress. I'm trying to avoid going to the doctor because I don't want medication.

Hi lily, thanks,I want to feel normal again as well,i m sorry that everyone on here is suffering to.it is a comfort to know I m not alone, everyone including doctors just think we feel a little bit dizzy, they have no idea exactly how awful we all feel.i made the mistake of taking some tablets the doctor gave me,I thought it was they were just mild, after taking them for two month I realized they were a powerful anti depressant I came straight off them and now I m in a new kind of hell, the withdrawl symptoms are horrific,I just plodding hoping one day it will just go away,it's ruined my life,I ve lost confidence going out on my own, because I never know when I m going to have a funny turn,I can t travel even short journeys make me sick and so dizzy.i hope we all get an answer soon.Sorry if my story is a little long,it's just nice to speak about it to people who understand, thanks for listening, take care x

Hi, I often feel this way too, look at pele in tens greet, on TV, and wish I was them as they aren't,t feeling all this horrible stuff.  You,re not alone and since seeing all the people on these different sights, and even a couple of consultants have admitted to me when I,ve said, 'it's not just me, there,s lots of people put there with this problem, that this is true, and they aren't t even ENT,s, so they do know and you,re not alone Lily

Lynsey, as much as I know you. Probably don,t want to go to the Drs you must.  With all these symptoms, they must atmleast be made aware, even if they can,t do anything,as they have to write this down on you records, and the more yoau tell them. It puts you in a better position at some point to push to see a better consultant.  you are also perfectly entitled to a second opinion, so,if you,re not happy with the outcome of say your treatment at ENt after a few months, the. You can do this too.  Sorry to,say but I,ve learned all this over four years nd if you justnsitmwaiti g for them to do something, nothing much will happen!

I wake up feeling like I didn't sleep. I'm tired sleepy no energy thru out the day. I can't even excersice or go for a walk , it's like rattling the cage ...I start feeling so woozy...my head. And it's accompanied with a headache.  Feels like I can't stop swaying. I get so scared.

Aww it's horrible,I wish I had the answer for us all, every morning I wake up with a nervous feeling in my stomach,I m not sure if that's just because I know what lies ahead for the rest of the day,I sleep kind of sat up,it helps a little.no matter how bad I feel I always put a little make up on do my hair and get dressed, just so I normal to the rest of the world,I take betahistine it does help a little but it dosn t take the whole bad feeling away,I take cyclizine for the sickness.if you ve had lots of tests, chances are it could be something to do with your ears.it 6yrs for me to find a doctor who explained what was going on with me.he said when I first started being dizzy chances are I d had an infection in my inner ear, which causes labythrinitus, normaly, you get antibiotics ( which I was never given ) the signals from my brain to my ears have got all confused,so I was left with un compensated labythrinitus.I ve still been left to get on with it because there's nothing they can really do,but having this information has helped me feel a little less anxious.i m not saying this is what you have, but I hope telling you my story has helped to make you feel less anxious.x

I'm wondering if anyone here has been diagnosed with Mal de Debarquement Syndrome (Disembarkment Syndrome)? While it is often triggered by a boat ride, cruise, long drive, or something similar, it seems others may have it without such a trigger.  I have suffered with a "rocking boat" feeling for 7 years  which has caused anxiety and panic attacks. Recently, I have had more severe episodes of dizziness.  Went through all the routine tests (I am in the USA) including MRI 6 years ago.  Now, returning to an Ear, Nose, & Throat specialist who is going to re-test to see if there have been changes.  I recently found a news release from Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City where a study was done on 24 people with Mal de Debarquement Syndrome.  70% of them were cured and were asymptomatic at the 1 year mark (1 year past treatment).  If you want to read it, you can search for it online.  I am going to inquire about this study and if they are offering treatment to others.
