Vertigo symptoms?

My GP recommended me this site because she diagnosed me with vertigo, so I wanted to see if other people have these symptoms as well.

It started for me at the beginning of March. It was just snap bang dizziness in front of the computer screen. Then it spread out to other things, and now that I'm taking meds (Prochlorperazine), the dizziness in my head is more or less gone.

However.

My body weirdly feels dizzy when my head doesn't? E.g. I'll move my hands and they move correctly, but I think they're going further than they really are or not far enough, and my arms just feel really awkward even though they move to my commands. I always (ALWAYS) have a falling feeling, like I'm about to sink or drop, but I don't. It got really bad once at the GP's, my back felt like it would snap forwards and I would go down, but I didn't. I still feel like I'm swerving when I walk, but I know loss of balance is pretty standard for vertigo. I've never had dizziness (it's a floaty, boat swaying dizziness) until now, and am really distressed by it because it's impeding on my work.

I don't drink alcohol/ coffee or smoke, but I do drink a lot of tea. I cut down my tea now, and am just drinking water (a bit boring).

Hello , I am stuck in bed after feeling dizziness and loss of balance come on over the last few days until I can hardly stand up and walking is a nightmare. I feel sick too and don't feel like eating or drinking. I suffer from chronic fatige long term, this has really slowed me to a stop. I was sad to see so many others suffering with little or no help. I have tried to find the Veda site on the net and Facebook and wondered if anyone could help. All I seem to find is foreign sites. Many thanks and good luck with finding help everyone.

Hello, has anyone  linked their symptms to adrenal stess? And if so,have you had any help wth it please?

re Adrenal stress, I believe it,is involved for some of us and I actually take an Adrenl support .  Whether they are the cause or effect I am not sure, but as the adrenals supplies us  with energy, if they re overworked by stress, they will suffer, and need help.

Hi, I'm new to this forum and have read a majority of the comments.

Has anyone tried the Epley maneuver??

the Epley maneuver is only effective if you have BPPV which my specialist used to,test me for, and it was negative.

Oooh...I see!! I've been suffering from vertigo symptoms for about four years. It was diagnosed as benign vertigo at the time of the ER visit late morning on thanksgiving.

I'm assuming that is still what I am experiencing. rolleyes

I don't have a lot of the mentioned symptoms I read about here. A few I do experience include the rapid eye movement, the feeling of inner shaking without actually shaking. I do feel strange in the head sometimes lol.

I clean house for a PT who thinks I'm a prime candidate for the maneuver. More excitingly, Dr. Eppley has his practice in Oregon, I'm just across the bridge five minutes(in Washington) from the river that separates us. Super stoked I can go try the chair he designed for such a condition.

      Wish me luck!!

Hi, yes I have had it for just over 4 Years too.  from what I understand the BPPV thing is to do with crystals in the vestibular area, and the maneuver moves them around, which gives a reaction which the Dr will, look at your eyes afterwards to see if anything changes. (It didn,t for me, so that,s why it  was ruled out).  the rotating chair, if that,s what you mean, I am familiar with also, but only as a diagnostic tool. But maybe his is different, maybe let us know on here after you,ve been so we can learn from your experience eh?

I think you're referring to a visit to the ent to check eye movement. I accompanied my mother to a doctor's visit after succumbing to vertigo directly after double knew surgery. She was put into a free different lying down positions and then reassessed. I saw her eye movement change from dancing to still. Was pretty cool.

Dr Eppley has a rotational device that is designed to move you around in all sorts of positions. You should Google it, it's quite fascinating. Not sure if it helps other vertigo conditions.

Oh lordy, they did this to me when I was in the ER - that's when I started to vomit uncontrollably. The doctor then said, well, I guess it's not crystals in your ear and walked out! Thanks doc!!

    Hi there.

I have the same or very similar issues.

For me its mostly to do with stress.

    Symptoms in my case...

    1. Off balance...

    2. Vertigo and Ear sounds...

    3. Stress and Anxiety....

    1. Off balance feeling ....

The first thing i got was the off balance seesaw feeling. I had this for months and months.

I also had hard small stools everytime i went to the toilet. I had constipation for years but didnt recognise it as constipation. After a month of constipation, I had hours of diarrhoea.

I was prescribed Laxido fibre laxatives. Since taking them fairly regularly.... The off balance feeling has gone along with the constipation!!!

    2. Ear problems...

I got Vertigoafter going go karting. Then a whistling in my left ear, then a pulsating in the same ear, then a shaking feeling.

The vertigo went after about 2 months, and slowly, so did the pulsating. The shaking and whistling are still there.

    This is really annoying!

The ENT doctor sent me for an ultrasound bloodflow test for my ear. The result came back normal.

I noticed, after not showering one morning, that the pulsating and whistling wasn't present. After showering, it was present.

My theory is that there is excess fluid in my left ear, or that water doesn't drain after showering in my left ear. Im going to try an ear plug while showering and I will get back to you.

    3. Stress and Anxiety...

About 1 year ago I lost my job.

As a result I lost faith in everything and everyone for a while.

I stopped going out and trusting people. I stopped liking my hobbies etc.

In my case, I've found that when stress hits, it hits my digestive system as well as my mind. I get extremely aware of my body. I now know, that i make big problems out of small irritating symptoms.

Constipation was and is a bi product of stress. It makes me feel anxious and gives me an off balance feeling.

The ear problems and constipation became a blown up issue which created more anxiety and more stress, and so the cycle continued.

I am getting much better now, with less problems to worry about, the easier it becomes to manage your stress. I go out for alot of walks, do sports, I hope these small findings help you.

Hello, I'm in the US and just experienced Vertigo for the first time on Tuesday (it's Saturday now). Walked into a store and suddenly felt a bit dizzy, took a deep breath hoping that would help it. All of a sudden my worlds collided. I walked out of the store so I wouldn't fall in front of everyone, but found I could only walk to the left. Somehow made it to a lamp post and braced myself. Called a close by friend who rushed me to the hospital. After about 15 hours, they said I most likely had Vertigo and not the stroke I was so convinced I had experienced. Stayed in the hospital for tests from Tuesday to Thursday. Scans, MRI's, blood tests, etc. The only thing they could tell me was that I most likely "just" have vertigo - as if it's nothing. I still have severe ringing in my left ear, off balance and have absolutely NO energy at all.  I MUST go back to work on Monday and I MUST continue to live my life. How many of you experienced a total lack of balance, ear ringing and absolutely NO energy after your episode? Does it ever go away? I'm going to see an acupuncturist as soon as I can. I live in Santa Fe, NM and we only have one ENT doctor who doesn't, of course, take my insurance! This is the first time (luckily so) that I have lost my health and feel like I've lost my life. I was so active and happy on Monday. I have a Golden Retriever, who is my life and live to play, hike and walk with him. I can barely toss the ball for him. Trying so hard not to let this lead to depression.  I know that we are all different, with similar stories. Just wondering when I will get my energy back!!

Sounds a bit like a panic attack Amie, that you had in the store and tinnitus.  Depression also can cause exhaustion.   It must be hard in the States with insurance.  Makes me appreciate our NHS even if it is failing.
