Vitamin D deficiency success stories

Posted , 122 users are following.

I am in the midst of this deficiency trying to recover from the horrible symptoms that it can cause. I want to hear from people who have overcome this deficiency and how they did it. If there was adverse affects of long term use of vitamin d supplements.

How long did it take to make a full recovery and any hurdles you ran into along the way.

I am just in need of encouragement right now from this deficiency. It has stopped me in my tracks and life just stopped for me. Being frozen in time while everyone continues on with their life while I suffer and wrestle with the symptoms.

Dealing with doctors who are not knowledgeable with this deficiency can be very frustrating.

Please share your story so I know after the storm comes a rainbow. Your stories will bring encouragement and hope not only to me but for everyone out there searching for answers on vitamin d deficiency.

Thank you and God bless!

Wow, Yes! this happened to me as well. sort of like an outer body experience in a way that was more so just confusing... i also see other people talking about that as well. this happened to me when it was at its worst! It would also happen when i would see my reflection as well. what a weirdd, trippy experience this has been. i hope we all can recover 100% from this.

Vicky! I had this happened to me too it was a very weird feeling. Like Gina said it felt like an out of body experience and I also went through this when it was at its worst. I looked it up and found derealization or depersonalization to be pretty close to describing it. I felt like I was in a half dream half conscious state.

Yes weird and scary to say the least . I had no idea vitamin D had such an effect but it being a pro hormone explains a lot

hello, i have been dealing with the following symptoms:

dizzyness to the point where i can't drive or even be in a car, and the dizziness makes it difficult to swallow so i am choking when i eat and it takes me 2 hours to eat a meal. I have extreme sensitivity to light so going on the computer makes the pressure in my head worse or even the tv. I have extreme fatigue when it feels like i cant keep my eyes open. Also ringing in the ears, severe depression, anxiety, and insomnia. The dizziness makes me a prisoner at home. I've seen 3 neurologists , 2 cardiologists, ent, audiologist, endocrinologist, and had an mri. Vitamin d level was 29. can this level cause these symptoms? has anyone had this dizziness to the point of not being able to drive?

Hi mark , so sorry you feel so bad , first i will pray for Gods touch , and yes 29 is a low level of vitamin D .people have different symptoms with a deficiency , however yours sounds too familiar with a long list of horrible symptoms ... The recommended levels should be 50 to 70 range . I wish you the best fast recovery .. By the way , low levels of vitamin D can also cause stomach issues

So for the past two years my anxiety has been at an all time high. I had my vitamin D checked and it was at 19. At that time my rheumatologist told me to take 1,000 IUs a day. I never got to the point of feeling much better but in the summer I noticed I felt a little bit better than I normally did bc I spent a lot of time in the sun. I had it re-checked last week and found that it was 18.5. I had been on 3,000 IUs daily a month prior but since finding out I’m still deficient and lower than I was in the first place, I increased my dose to 7,000 IUs a day.

    My symptoms are

    Fatigue

    Diarrhea/constipation

    Bone and joint pain

    Costochondritis

Tingling all over in random places but mostly on the right side of my lower lip

Itching all over but mainly on chest the most

    Twitching tongue

Anxiety is the worst it’s ever been.

I was tested last year for MS and am in the process of having my labs for lupus re-tested.

Anyone else have any of these symptoms? I feel alone bc none of my family understands. I have so many aches, pains, and weird nerve type feelings that I’m always afraid I have some kind of cancer.

Hi mandy my VD levels were 19 as well , yes your symptoms is of the deficiency . I cant understand however ,why you were only put on 7,000 ius daily .. It takes a long time with high dosages to replenish this pro hormone ... The over the counter supplements also work better than those prescribed . You should be taking 10,000 iu daily which will be 50,000 ius weekly , even with this amount it will take several months . Dont give up ,though ,it will happen !

My level was at 16ng/ml and was put in 50k/week. My level rose to 55 with that but then I made the mistake of reducing it to 5k/day and that was a huge mistake as it decreased to 53 with this dose. I am now taking 9-10k/day so 63-70k/week. Even with this dose I have had some highs and lows meaning some days I feel okay and other days I can barely get out of bed. I have had similar symptoms to the ones you listed but I have had others too so everyone is different. I do encourage you to rule out other serious illnesses. That is what I did and it helped my anxiety by giving me some peace of mind. Don't stop fighting for your health and on the days you feel terrible that is when you have to be the strongest! Learn everything you can about this deficiency and how to optimize your supplementation, talk to others who have gone through the same thing. I hope your recovery goes well.

Correction , HOW are you now y8 ?

Not the best TBH. My pain came back x2. Anxiety also came back. It all started ever since I uped my dose to 9-10k so I'm hoping it is just the process. Yesterday I surprisingly had a better day. I hope I start making improvements again soon. Will be testing my VD again later this month. Thanks for asking. How are you?

Good days and not so good days seems to fit in the process of getting our Vitamin D levels to where they are suppose to be . I too raised my intake but i found it easier to take in intervals 3 times a day instead of all at once . I dont remember how long you have been taking D3 supplements ,but im in my 5th month . .. Its slow and long b, we must keep the faith , we will get there !

I started taking 50k/week starting the last week of July. 7 months later decreased it to 5k/day. Rookie move! starting mid November on 9-10k/day. I also kind of spread it out. I take 4k drops under the tongue at noon and take a 5k with k2 supplement at dinner. I also try to go out in the sun whenever it is out but its been cloudy most days this month. I agree, we have to be strong!
