Vitamin D deficiency success stories

I am in the midst of this deficiency trying to recover from the horrible symptoms that it can cause. I want to hear from people who have overcome this deficiency and how they did it. If there was adverse affects of long term use of vitamin d supplements.

How long did it take to make a full recovery and any hurdles you ran into along the way.

I am just in need of encouragement right now from this deficiency. It has stopped me in my tracks and life just stopped for me. Being frozen in time while everyone continues on with their life while I suffer and wrestle with the symptoms.

Dealing with doctors who are not knowledgeable with this deficiency can be very frustrating.

Please share your story so I know after the storm comes a rainbow. Your stories will bring encouragement and hope not only to me but for everyone out there searching for answers on vitamin d deficiency.

Thank you and God bless!

My question to you all is, has anyone been experiencing bone loss or hair loss in their journey? First off my levels were at 23 back in January 2018. I’ve been supplementing on my own 3000 ui a day which has the vitamin k in it as well. My bones never ached before I started taking the supplements but my levels were again at 23. I’m guessing this is from my bones taking to the supplements. Anyways, I’ve noticed that this deficiency has made my bones progressively become smaller or different, and I’m not sure if they’re more fragile, but even laying in bed I can feel one leg on top of the other while on my side just feels different? It’s like my whole body shape and ways of like moving around are changing because of my bones? Lifting weights at a gym are so hard I feel so tiny and small now like my body isn’t even the same to how I use to be just like 2 years ago I’m only 21 years old so I know it can’t be from old age. Also my hair has been falling out like crazy and I have such beautiful thick ashy brown hair and I really don’t want to lose it. I’ve lost about 3/4s of it, and am starting to see a few bald spots. I’ve been tested for all other things that a blood test would test for and I’m clear of anything else (no hypo/hyperthyroidism). But just in case, I started taking iron pills daily, and only a tiny bit of the hair falling has stopped. Has anyone had any hair success stories?? And will my hair grow back thick again once my levels go up? Thanks

For everyone who is deficient in vitamin D, please know your mineral and vitamin status before taking vitamin D. You will end up feeling worse with more problems and mess up your electrolytes.

If your vitamins and minerals are good then vitamin d should make you feel better. Just be aware that vitamin D depletes magnesium, retinol vitamin A and crashes potassium. When your body gets unbalanced everything goes wrong and it can take a long time to rebalance. I am paying for it right now still trying to rebalance things back. It's been a nightmare.

I wish you all well and take care

    Hello everyone,

I am a newbie here and I must say that I appreciate the kindred spirit and the way everybody has been participating, sharing their stories and experiences, and keeping this place alive. I have learnt quite a lot in a short span and I am confident that as I interact more with you in the coming days, I will learn much more.

I have read lots of brave stories. I choose this medium first, to say thank you to every one of you for being strong in the light of your challenges. Your stories are full of hope and courage, and I am certain that they will help so many people out there find their feet.

    Thank you.

I have had my own share of health challenges. I have fell down flat many times, sick and tired of life, but I have managed to pull through and I am now standing on my feet. I feel obliged to share my story because I believe that sharing my experience can be the difference for a whole lot of people who might be going through different health challenges at the moment.

For years, I have suffered ill health with many accompanying symptoms: Panic attacks, depression, poor sleep quality, Tachycardia, and many more related symptoms. These symptoms made me hate life in all sense. I was afraid to live. I could not interact with people around me, and I could not go out. I was living in my own shell, afraid of what the next moment could turn out to be. The symptoms made me feel horrible and instead of waning, they became more severe, even with continuous visits to doctors.

My travail continued as I daily hoped for a miracle, something to take away all my pains and troubles.

Unfortunately, my sufferings and bouts with the symptoms were heightened because of ignorance. I did not know that I lacked essential vitamins and minerals that my body needs to function at optimal levels. You see, the situation most of us have found ourselves cannot be far-fetched from my experience. I tried all sorts, but none yielded any positive changes. I was dying and I knew this even as more money went down the drain. At a point, I no longer felt pity for myself; I just wanted everything to end. I wanted to enjoy life, I wanted to be free and that was exactly what I did.

In a last resort to save myself, I started to consult medical literature. I swept through the old and new ones, trying to find out what I had to do to be healthy. I wanted to stand on my feet and I wanted to pursue my big dreams. The medical literatures revealed so much about my symptoms and I started to connect the dots. It became clear to me gradually, that the core of my troubles might be nutritional deficiencies. I started to supplement with vitamins and minerals, shutting out the pharmaceuticals because I feared that they could further compound my problems.

That turned out to be my salvation. I started to notice improved changes. I began to feel strong and refreshed. Apparently, I had pronounced deficiencies in Vitamin D3 and every symptom I experienced, could be traced to it. I started taking high doses of Vitamins D3, K2, and magnesium.

I am particularly saddened by my plight, because many people actually battle with varying health conditions because they lack the right information. It is in fact more disheartening when health professionals fail to help you assuage the pains caused by the situation when they do not point you in the right direction.

My blood test results showed high deficiencies in Vitamin D3 and immediately I started with the supplements, I started to feel and live better. I started with 50K of Vitamin D3, Vitamin K2 and magnesium. For me, this combination created the closest thing to a modern day elixir and eventually gave me relief.

It is high time health professionals started sharing these knowledge with people because it could help end the suffering of a lot of people, and this is why I am sharing my story.

I hope that sharing my story would help someone make a turnaround, and take charge of his or her life, as I did. Even if it is just a single person. I hope that this single person will share this with another person until it goes viral.

People do not have to go through so much when the potential solution to their problem is very simple and inexpensive.

I do hope once again that my story resonates and connects with some of you. Vitamin D3 turned my life around for better and I believe that I am not alone here. Please spread the word, share your experience. You never know how much your story and experience might help someone in need.

I am just glad that I could figure out my troubles. You too can.

Thanks so much for sharing your story. It is so inspirational and helpful! I wonder how long it took for you to start feeling better after you began the protocol you described above. I have been on that same protocol now for about xx days. Like you, my doctor did not help me find this protocol. I found it myself on a UK Facebook board for D deficiency. I was just hoping I'd see more improvement more quickly. Per lab results, my D is up from 16 to 42 from doing the protocol, but I don't feel much better. Thanks for any thoughts you can provide.

Meant to say I've been on protocol 39 days, so almost 6 weeks.

      Hi Gail,

I am so glad you found some value in my story, and I am also glad that you’ve started to fix your deficiency.

It took me 3-4 months to correct my deficiency. If your levels are 42 ng/mL, then according to many experts optimal levels are within 50-70 ng/mL. So could still be deficient.

Check your private message for a chart of optimal levels.

Let me assure you that things will get better, just hang in there.

      Feel well soon,

      MrLeaf

      Hi lottie,

I know and feel what you’re going I’ve personally experienced it first hand, but let me assure you, it gets better. There’s light at the end of the tunnel. Your courage is inspiring.

Vitamin D is extremely important and essential to humans since really it isn’t a vitamin its actually a steroid hormone, and its deficiency causes a host of symptoms.

Based on my successful experience with vitamin D, allow me to share these important recommendations with vitamin D supplementation; (1) if you suspect that you’ve been deficient in vitamin D for a long time, then aim to reach therapeutic blood levels of vitamin D to experience its healing effects which is between between 70-100 ng/mL (2) it’s extremely important to supplement with the co-factors needed for vitamin d metabolism: Vitamin K2 as MK7 and Magnesium; vitamin k2 guides calcium to where its needed to the bones and teeth and arteries where it could lead to calcification issues, and magnesium is needed to activate vitamin d in the body and if you’re deficient in magnesium this process is impaired. (3) if you want to further educate yourself on this subject, I urge you to watch a lecture on YouTube by Dr. Michael Holick: search d-lightful vitamin d by Michael holick.

      Feel well soon,

Correction: and prevent it from going to arteries where it could lead to calcification issues.

      Hi june62506

I am an acute deficiency of Vit D3. I experience most of those symptoms that are mentioned above + burning in my legs. I am on 60,000 IU per week Vit D3 dosage.

what are your levels of d3? Mine is like 8.83 ng/ml

Hi, thanks for your reply. My doctor never told me what my numbers are. But I’m on 50, 000 ml vitamin d3 once per week. This is my third week, I also take a multi, b12,b2, magnesium

And vitamin a. Symptoms has gone except for an occasional pain on my shin bone. You might want to try adding these wits in to your routine, because from what I read when there is a d deficiency usually there is magnesium also.

      Same here,

Over the past few months i started to get random muscle twitches/pulsations and most alarmingly the sensation of internal vibrations. Over the holiday i went to the ER because my hands and feet felt like they were burning and then like they were freezing. After getting blood work done i found out i was low in calcium my level was 7.5 the normal range is 8.8-10.9 My parathyroid hormone was crazy high at 898 and the normal range is 30-89. They I diagnosed me with hypocalcemia which is low calcium and sent me on my way. A few days later I made an appointment with my primary care physician and after some more bloodwork he discovered that I had secondary hyperparathyroidism due to my severe deficiency in vitamin D. My vitamin D levels were severly low at level 7 The normal range is 30-100.

I was Prescribed 50,000 units of D2prescribed 50,000 units of D2 once a week for eight weeks and a daily calcium 400/500 D3 combo supplment. it’s been about three weeks and my last bloodwork shows my calcium has normalized to level 9 My parathyroid hormone lowered drastically down to 89 and vitamin d level up to 18 but i still feel horrible. Some days I feel good for a few hours. But overall I’m constantly fatigued I feel weak. I get internal tremors lots of muscle spasms and twitches. Random ear ringing. I can’t sit still or sleep at night because my legs are constantly feeling like they’re being mildly electrocuted from the inside my limbs are constantly feeling like they’re vibrating almost like there’s a cell phone under my skin in random places. My arms feel so weak all the time. I get randim throbbing sensations.

All of this gives me so much anxiety which doesn’t help the situation. My doctor just keeps telling me I will feel better. I’m just wondering how long it’s going to take before I start to feel better because this is no way to live. If there’s anybody that has gotten through this deficiency and feels better please give any details that you can to help those of us who are still in the middle of this process find hope.

      Hi Shan,

I'm sorry you are going through these symptoms. But if you have hyperparathyroidism shouldn't you have high level of calcium? Also, are you experiencing a feeling of discomfort in your throat or front of your neck?
