Second time on citalopram stopped it after couple months because hair problems, tried sertraline made me worse now back on it 5 days in. Just waking at 4am most mornings can'T get back to sleep. Get off to sleep OK just wake so early and anxiety seems lot worse in morning anyone else have this. I take it at night as found taking it in morning first time stopped me getting off to sleep.

Morning anxiety is always the last symptom to go! itis perfectly normal and it too will pass trust me ive been through this many times!
Currently anxiety free still waking early sometimes and feeling anxious not like i used to be but now i dont pay much attention to it.i listen to some relaxing music and then get up and once i start my day virtually gone.
The secret to being free from anxiety is to stop fearing it,even laugh out loud! sounds simple but it works.

Thanks I hope so. Think things racked up a bit as just starting on the citalopram again. Will try swapping to the morning see if it helps

whenever you start meds again the anxiety is worse before it gets better! so try to ride the storm because it will get better but it takes time.

Didnt really like swapping meds but also get OCD type symptoms because zop withdrawal made them lot worse. Did have cbt on NHS was useless think because it was caused by withdrawal. Anyway taken one this morning hope for the best!

i did CBT with two psychologists ,both useless and expensive. Doing an online course now and just brilliant! Not expensive either.
just persevere with your meds it took me ages last time and eventually it worked. I stayed on them for two years then weaned off very very slowly.

I have done the NHS on line CBT, was also pretty useless think maybe paying for one is the way to go. Are you in UK if so could you send me details might try it. I will carry on, just been year of zopiclone withdrawal seems never ending with no improvement !!

i was pretty lucky when i did cbt it was still one on one! it helped me so much with the complusions the cit caused and i truly believe its one of the only reasons ive got so far through getting off this drug with the severe symptoms i get (that plus my wonderful partner of course) x

Taking meds in morning made sleep even worse back to plan A. Do you find some days you just can't go out the house, feel should make myself but some days just too much. Had one to one CBT with NHS but she was useless just went through motions had keep filling in questionaires. Might try one Felis used.

it will take a while to notice the difference in taking it in the morning, its hard to get out lovely but i now force a routine, i walk 3 times a day, before breakfast, after lunch and tea, nature really helps x

Going swap back to taking in evening as made morning anxiety worse and felt really tired all morning. Has been a full moon which apparently can affect sleep too. i'll try taking it after dinner maybe on full stomach might affect it. Hope you soon improve.

Sorry to hear that thing of the past for me now. Menopause was awful that's when insomnia started and ended up on the dreaded zopiclone. Did look at the online CBT but just seems to be viewing videos, which I've tried before. Not feeling dramatically worse so that's something!

My sleep was never great but got really bad insomnia with the menopause, was working at the time so really difficult . Doctor told me zopiclone was non addictive, yeah right !!!!

we get dependent on all of these drugs x

Would never had taken them had I known the damage they could do. Stupidly believed my doctor when he said were non addictive. Think they only prescribe them very short term now.. Insomnia was awful but preferable to how I feel now.

Do you mean you'd been on zopiclone? They have really ruined my life. I did find after a while unless you kept increasing the dose they stopped working anyway. Wasn't prepared to do that so didn't help much towards the end. Have heard they help anxiety maybe that's why I'm mess now!

yes i have crippling insomnia without them! ive never changed dose, once off cit im working through meds to be off them all even if it takes me years x

Good luck when you try come off zopiclone least sounds like you will be given option to slowly wean off. Ihave actually found eventually slept better once came off them even though don'T get that many hours The trouble is your body almost forgets how to sleep whilst on them. But i know how awful insomnia can be so understand why people take them just wish i was warned how addictive they are i only took about 2MG a night.

You arevery wise to stop the citalopram first, they can both cause problems but seems zopiclone lot worse to stop. Not too bad today every day different at moment which makes things difficult to plan. How is your sleep?

if you look on other sites ssri's are brutal and cause long lasting withdrawal, everyones experience is different but in my opinion cit has been the worst for me and ive had steriod induced pychosis, possibly the zopiclone was bad for you because it tied in with menopause and you cold turkeyed but honestly ssri's for the 10 percent who get hit with bad withdrawal are life changing and absolutely brutal! you mentioned you dont get pain? im crippled with it with cit withdrawal also had voices telling me to end my life! so like i said everyone is different x

Think depends which site you look at, only looked at benzo sites which obviously say benzos are worst! Have you withdrawn from other meds, if so did your symptoms last for a long time after stopping. That must have been awful for you having those thoughts, I have this fear I've hurt people walking past them so going out difficult. Think mine is definitely anxiety rather than OCD which is why the CBT didn't work. I went through menopause while ago so wasn't that think it was going cold turkey. I took seroxat for 6 months then and stopped no probs but as you say every case is different.

if you google zopiclone is a z drug but not an actual benzo, first time i went cold turkey i had zero withdrawals but our bodies change x

Yes I know it's z drug but causes same withdrawal as benzos. Zopiclone particularly bad as it's got short half life. zopiclone now a class C drug and only normally prescribe it for couple weeks nowadays.. Think it's about half of people that have problems withdrawing does depend how long you've been on it of course. Think everyone different i know people have stopped citalopram no problems but obviously causing you distressing symptoms as no doubt many others the same

i just dont read or see much about zopiclone withdrawal to be honest, its going to be years before i reduce slowly off it as cit is brutal x

read lot once I'd been forced to stop it. Even printed NICE recommendations to show doctor that meant to withdrawa slowly to no avail. The ashton manual gives guidlines.Like your citalopram experience it can be awful coming off it. As you're still on it you will obviously be able to do a tapered withdrawal. Hope your sleep improves
