Weather affrcting PMR

Hello , Iam wondering if anyone thinks that the weather affects their PMR. I live in Australia and really think that in the hot weather my body does'nt ache so much. When rain is coming I do really suffer. I am not sure if others find this or just me so thought I"d put it out there for a few other thoughts.

Cheers Febes

Yes, the weather can change the way you feel.  I have just gone

up 1mg (4mg.) as it has turned cold and also there's a little stress

at Xmas.  A hot shower in the morning feels so good and in the

evening whilst sitting a put something warm around me just to

keep the heat in - does wonders.  Good luck and have a very

    happy Xmas.

I live in eastern Canada where it is quite damp along the ocean. I normally have daily episodes of burning sensation in my legs, I recently went to Cabo, Mexico where the weather is desert, dry and hot and was pain-free for 10 days despite alot of walking and swimming (and the odd drink of tequila). A week after returning home and the usual soreness is back. There is definaltely something to the weather theories.

Interesting.  I've been suspecting that I must have had PMR for a lot longer that I realized.  In 2005 I went for a cruise in the Baltic and while enjoying that holiday I discovered that I no longer seemed to have any of the aches and pains that at the time I attributed to osteoarthritis.  I tried to figure out what I had done differently and thought it might have been a slightly modified diet, but even trying to follow the same diet at home the pain returned.  Perhaps it was the time of year - late summer, comfortably warm, very clear weather, it only rained once and that was at night - and perhaps it was not having to work or do housework, but except for the first month on pred I have never felt so well since.

Hi Febes, found your post on Patient.info when I was looking up PMR and weather. That was a year ago - how are you doing now?  I am 20 months into this gig and on 7 to 7.5 mg pred a day. Had to go up a little when the weather got real wet. Not happy with my rhumatologist, are you in the Seattle area?
