why do i constantly feel nausea?

I am constantly feeling sick!! it doesnt start first thing in the morning but throughout the day it just emerges. its now at the point where i choose not to eat if i feel sick because i completely loose my appetite, which is making it worse because im then hungry too( but eating just makes it worse)

I also have severe emetaphobia (the fear of vomit) so i am constantly worried about being sick due to it(another reason i dont eat if i feel sick, to prevent vomiting)

I have counselling for the emetaphobia so when i feel sick it is cast off as being 'in my head' by my counsellor and family.

i feel like i am stuck because i dont want to go to the doctors incase they give me any medication that has vomiting as a side effect but i cant keep feeling the way i feel because it is taking over my life.

There has got to be a cause for the nausea, i refuse to believe it is my 'anxiety' from emetaphobia that is making me feel this way.

I sometimes have really bad headaches that last for 5-10 minutes consisting of sharp pains in the head and over the eyes. I also have shooting pains in my lower abdomen, but whether this is linked to the nausea i dont know.

Any suggestions????

I read all the posts and feel each of your pains. Nausea is so life-altering and a challenging symptom for the medical profession to treat because it can be a symptom for a wealth of issues.

I have constant nausea, especially when my anxiety is triggered (e.g. Eating out, being a passenger in a vehicle, etc.). I've had every test imaginable and have minor ibs and vertigo but all signs seems tonbe pointing to my anxiety. It is sooo hard to retrian your mind when it has developed unhealthy thought patterns since childhood in some cases. I'm eating better and going to counseling. I wish all of you the best and will keep informed vis this discussion board. We are not alone though it can feel like you are when your close friends and family have no idea what you are experiencing including doctors!

I also struggle with depression and go through a lot of family problems and do not eat very healthy... So that may be why... Hi I'm a high school student and I have THE SAME ! Problems you do . I wouldn't say problems but believe it or not you feel nauseous because of your mental health . It makes you think that you want to throw up but really your not going to smile have you vomited before ? Yes or no, you aren't sick . If you think about it, the more you think of it, the more nauseous you feel. So try to distract yourself like doodle , or go on your phone and text a friend . It will take your mind off it. I have bad anxiety too and it doesn't make you nauseous but it does make the situation worse . I have the best temporary remedy which is chewing mint gum when you feel nauseous smile it helps a lot , also I was found to be constipated and you should check if you are too , because you might be and that can definitely make you feel nauseous ! Drink atleast 2 water bottles a day just to make sure , or if your stool isn't the right consistency drink 10 tablespoons of mineral oil to help , but this is only if your constipated lol , good luck and TRY the MINT GUM !!!! It's a miracle worker and it helps with anxiety smile good luck and don't worry , I'm currently in your shoes smile <3>

I am experiencing same thing. Mine has been going on around a week although I am prone to nausea and vomiting easily. I'm on antibiotics. Has anyone tried strong probiotics? I'm going to take them alongside antibiotics to see if that helps. Going to explore the acid reflux too.

Let me know if any of you have found answers.

I'm feeling the exact same thing since I was a kid. I'm 17 now... I'm going crazy from worry and not knowing what to do! I was just wondering tho... It seems like this only happens in girls... I could be wrong, but if it is true... Maybe that has something to do with it?

You can get ginger root from the produce section. Peel a small piece and chew on it. It cured my nausea!!!

I've been suffering from on  and off nausea for about 3 or 4 months now. It started when I was unemployed Dec 2015 and I was worried about finding a new job. I was sitting in my car one day and I kept focusing on it until I literally started feeling increasingly  nervous/anxious about money/job issues. The next day, the nausea started and it's been relentless ever since. I also have SEVERE emetophobia and it peaks around Flu season (Nov-April) where most people where I live tend to get stomach bugs. I think I was obsessing over that fact too when I was sitting in my car this past December.  The thought of getting sick makes me feel even sicker. And I mentally OBSESS over it. I avoid certain places, people that have been sick or who I think have been sick. I wash my hands almost to the point of OCD. I don't touch my face, eat with my bare hands, or touch the eating part of my utensils unless I washed my hands with hot water and soap 1 second before...sometimes 2 or 3 times.

Now when I eat, most times I feel sick. I may have a couple of good days out of a week, but it's usually constant nausea day and night. It has gotten to the point where I was hospitalized for nearly 2 days because of malnourishment and dehydration (because I wasn't eating due to nausea and fear of vomiting). I was predicting that I had a gastric ulcer, then cancer, then gall bladder problems, then strangulated bowel syndrome, then IBS, then gastric emptying syndrome, then I thought that there was something wrong with my vagus nerve. I've had an ultra sound, CT scan, and nuclear scan to look at my gall bladder, liver, kidneys, and all other parts of my abdomin. all three tests came out clear. I really want to see a gastroenterologist for an endoscopy, just to rule out ulcers and gastritis. I want to see a psychiatrist too in case that all of this is just purely mental sad

I think I lost 30 lbs due to me not eating as much as I used to. I'm literally just one or two notches away from looking skeletal. I think a lot of it has to do with my constant fear and anxiety which I think are intercorrelated with my nausea. I used to really enjoy food and had no problems eating well over 2000-3000 calories a day. Now, I can barely get myself to 1000 calories. I really hate this, and no you're not alone. Even now, I'm starving but I'm afraid to eat. It's debilitating and it's making me not want to do anything but lay in bed! This is running my life. I pray to God that I can go back to my old self.

l had severe nausea for months from waking to bedtime, worse with movement, went off food, lost 2 stone, had tried chemist stuff and prescribed anti nausea. l did have the scan where they inject dye into your veins, but think it was the scope that showed gastritus of stomach duodenum, l was also sent for petscan but due to my chest glands being enlarged, and having chest problems, and that was ok.

So suprising youve had extensive scanning but not a scope, which l think is best way to see problems. l was put on omprazole for probs and it did settle it 90percent after a couple of weeks along with very small plain diet,l still get tired but not the debility l got with nausea, where having naps was a break from feeling lousy,  they do sell nexium at chemist its same as omprozole, could be worth trying for a short time, see if it helps, But sounds like you need a scope look in.

      good luck

omprozole is a PPI Proton Pump Inhibitors medication just like Medium, Prilosec and Pepcid. I would only recommend use if your proven to have an ulcer. As these medications can cause gasteritus infection in 2-3 weeks. It also will cause anxiety, blurred vision and nausea. Google for all side effects.

I hope this reaches as many people here as possible. I'll keep it brief: I was dealing with the same type of nausea (very debilitating, by the way). Now, I am completely back to normal. Solution: I found out that I had developed a gluten intolerance, and my diet contained vast quanitites of gluten-rich food. I cut the gluten, and, like magic, that fixed the problem. Best of luck. I hope that heals most if not all of you ;D

I've been reading the comments and it seems like 90℅ of people who started feeling this way are people who took an antibiotic for broncites. I also took antibiotics for boncites & I started having this sick feeling with the throat clogged making it hard to swallow. Also, does anyone find it hard to poop? Maybe we should stop going to the doctors and eating healthy things, plus ridding our water of any harmful substance. This junk we eat and drink is unhealthy for us and it seems these pills have compromised our immune system. I have been suffering from this for only a few months now & it has been breaking me down slowly. Our mood has a lot to do with our health as well. I've been slowly getting worse off because I've been freaking out about it. I'm going to try and just eat organic, and take my mind off of it & stop going to the doctors. I'll update you guys in a few weeks to see if this helps.

I'm sitting here and found this site as I typed into the search engine, Why do I constantly feel sick ?

All day and every day I have had this problem, I also get headaches and the tablets I've taken haven't worked again 😞 The Dr seams to think I have IBS which I developed 25 years ago, but this constant sickness is getting me down, I have no energy to do things and my life is not as good as it should be as I am moaning all the time and won't do anything other then sit about feeling sorry for myself. Work is getting harder when your feeling like this.

I know it's nothing to do with anxiety and I don't have a fear of being sick, this is real and I just want it to go.

I've read that ginger might help, I will give this a go and I am getting desperate, I've taken, tablets for my IBS, peppermint tablets, Charcoal, rennies, anti sickness and none have worked so far. My stool has been tested and my bloods came back ok, not sure what else the Dr can do, I feel like a hypochondriac going back and foe all the time. If you find a cure please let me know. Thank you

hi, have you seen a gastroenterolist to see if he can find the cause by diong a scope.  l had same for months, the scope showed l had a bit of gastritus, he didnt think it explained the level of nausea, but tried mr on omprazole which did settle it 90percent, hve a word with gp, you can also buy simular at chemist called nexium, it can take up to two weeks to settle it, so worth ttrying for 2wks, Hope it or gp helps, also try a plain diet, and doing wihout processed food ready meals, lactose, just small portions of fresh food, pots, rice pasta, veg chicken fish, hope it helps

Lynne to be honest I've got a pack of Omprazole already given to me by the Dr before, but I have heard that taking them long term could cause Alzeimers in some people, my fathers girlfriend has it and it's very upsetting to see her be this way and I wouldn't like to put my family through that if I should be so unlucky, the Dr told me that short term should be ok which I did use but no joy unfortunately. Today I have an appointment with the Dr and I will suggest the possibility of me seeing a specialist in that field. It's gotten to the point where I've booked half a rest day today as couldn't stand working with what I was feeling. I hope I get some joy with the Dr today.

Hi there I have also suffered this way few times over past 15 years for months on end & I know the utter misery you feel. Its seems like it will never end but it will.

Did doc test for helicopter h pylori? That's often cause of such nausea. Also if you could take a good quality acidophilus from health food shops that's also massively helped me before. I've had endocytosis twice because I needed to know it was nothing bad. Hope u get some relief soon

l thought you might have had some, ld never heard of them in the months l,d nausea, then once prescribed them seemed loads l talked to take them, l dont know how long for, l,m not keen myself taking any meds long term, l,m really bad actually at taking meds, had allergy to penicillin and others, thrown up with dannol, if l took over 2 pain killers, paracetamol at that l risked feeling sick, since diagnoses of gastritus l,m even more rerluctant, try to manage with pain gels and patches. Its possible that mine was caused by taking an anti b daily for 2yrs, as a preventative to intersticial cystitus flare ups, research a few year back showed they did help with that, and they seemed to for me, but possible the worsening stomach probs, and did have some before were aggrevated. Although l was diagnosed with gastritus by scope the ologist was puzzled at level of nausea l ws having, and did lose appetitie and 2 stone, so didnt really get answer from him, There are a few on here who get nausea constant but most dont get more pain swelling wind.  So it seems were a puzzle, no one that l can recall as come back on and been given definite cause or cure, just different remedies that have helped individuals,  We all know the misery and debility of it, l hope you get some help from Dr, let us know if posative,  take care.

Hello, The Dr is going to be testing me for that, I have to take a stool sample in before I can start on the tablets she gave me, Lansoprazole 30mg I need to take them for a full month, if everything is the same then she will go down the scope line, she examined my stomach and I'm not sure what she got from that but I told her it was uncomfortable around the belly button and the diaphragm ( in fact I felt sick when she pressed that ) I hope I can quickly give her a stool sample so I can quickly take the course of tablets and see some results. 🙏🏼🙂
