why do i constantly feel nausea?

I am constantly feeling sick!! it doesnt start first thing in the morning but throughout the day it just emerges. its now at the point where i choose not to eat if i feel sick because i completely loose my appetite, which is making it worse because im then hungry too( but eating just makes it worse)

I also have severe emetaphobia (the fear of vomit) so i am constantly worried about being sick due to it(another reason i dont eat if i feel sick, to prevent vomiting)

I have counselling for the emetaphobia so when i feel sick it is cast off as being 'in my head' by my counsellor and family.

i feel like i am stuck because i dont want to go to the doctors incase they give me any medication that has vomiting as a side effect but i cant keep feeling the way i feel because it is taking over my life.

There has got to be a cause for the nausea, i refuse to believe it is my 'anxiety' from emetaphobia that is making me feel this way.

I sometimes have really bad headaches that last for 5-10 minutes consisting of sharp pains in the head and over the eyes. I also have shooting pains in my lower abdomen, but whether this is linked to the nausea i dont know.

Any suggestions????

Mine is also very similar to yours. I would wake up in the morning feeling perfectly fine, but by the end of the day, i feel really, really bad. Everytime that i feel sick, i would eat something small, like toast and drink tons of water. Mine usually gets worse throughout the night. The worst from around 2 to 5 in the morning. What do you think may be my problem?

I thought I was alone! For the past week I've had stomache issues. I though it might be symptoms of diarrhea but that past and my nausea hasn't. As well, I have emetaphobia so of course this is harder for me to deal with. I've had pains in the left side of my abdomen and then just pain in general random areas. I refuse to throw up but it's not that I actually will, it just feels like I will. I have no idea what to do either... Let me know how your feeling now! (:

      Hi Tee,

I'm not sure if you have solved this issue yet, but I believe I have the answer!!

I also have/had emetophobia and as I grew older it got increasingly worse and I reached a phase in my life where I felt constantly nauseous, lump in my throat, wanting to gag, while also being terrified. Stomach pains and bloating - you name it!

I tried all physical remedies because it was physical symptoms and I was very stubborn and did not want to believe that my anxiety could cause this, because that would mean I was doing it to myself, which felt stupid, and I think we all hate to admit being wrong.

Anyway! After a year of suffering and much persuasion I began a course called "Thrive for emetophobia" by Rob Kelly, a UK psychologist. And also seeing a consultant to help me work through the book.

It seemed so simple but I could not believe the results!!! After just two weeks I was not nauseous or bloated, and it just keeps getting better and better. I can't encourage you enough to try this, when I saw your post I just though "that's exactly how I felt!!" And I feel so much empathy for you - I want you to find the telex I have found!

      Much love and well wishes

I meant to say "I want you to find the relief that I have found!"

Please let me know if you have heard of this.

Emetophobes offer feel that they are alone and are the only ones with this "silly fear" but it's not true! It's very common and it's entirely solvable with discipline and hard work!

We've got lives to live so we'd better get on

      With it!!

I have read many of the posts here and the common thread is that many of you have taken an antibiotic and then had the nausea.  Antibiotics will kill the bugs causing problems.  But they also kill the good bugs in the digestive tract.  So when you take them, and then get digestive problems, your gut is out of balance.  Digestive enzymes and probiotics can help balance this back out.  I am by no means a doctor, just a fellow sufferer that has done tons of research because of my own journey with the same things.  First came the nausea that lasted for years.  Out came the gallbladder, thinking that would cure me.  It seems to get worse, with yet more symptoms.  Bloating, nausea, constipation and diarhhea cycled continuously for almost 2 years.  I was hospitalized for 5 days once, diagnosed with malnutrition.  Still no answers from the medical professionals.  Several trips to the ER for severe pain.  They diagnosed me with pancreatitis without any tests, gave me pain and nausea meds and sent me home each time.  Finally saw a GI  doc that sent me to a surgeon.  He took out almost 2 feet of my colon.  For about 6 months it seemed my problems were over and I gained back all the weight I had lost because of all the issues.  Now the problems are starting to creep back in.  Just like they did in the first place.  Intermittent nausea.  Intermittent pain in abdomen.  Constipation followed by diahhrea.  At present, the symptoms are only here and there, but over the past three months they are starting to increase in episodes, just like they did before.  I went through 5 years of hell before the surgery.  I am not looking forward to another 5.  I know what works for me.  I refused to take the GERD med as I knew about the side effects.  I know to go back to a liquid diet and try to get as much nutrition and gut enzymes and probiotics as possible.  I have been on and off of this forum for awhile and pretty much confirmed my own assessment that I have to be proactive and just do all this naturally since surgery didn't do anything but delay the inevitable return of whatever this awful condition is. I love food, but I cannot be as miserable as I was before. I am glad I didn't toss out my skinny pants now.  Because I have a feeling I will need them soon.

I have had the nausea 3-4 times per day for the last 2 months; Went to my internalist MD had blood work done. She saw an allergic reaction in my blood work to something but didn't know what;  Took me off bread, pasta, gluten, and wheat.  I really feel better;  I have been off now for almost 2 weeks and have had only 2 bouts of nausea

Hey Tee. I would love to know how you are doing a year later. What caused this and what has helped you? I have the exact same issues. The heachaches, nausea, even dry heaving. I have emetophobia as well, and the anxiety is unbearable. I am desperate to get better and would really appreciate if you responded, or personal messaged me back.
