Why is Zopiclone so awful

Posted , 22 users are following.

Will somebody tell me the reason for the hysterical comments, and hate

campaign against this sleeping tablet . Please don't tell me to read

yards of stuff on different forums and sites, What is so bad  about it. .

I get sleep, and nothing else, (thankfully ).

It can't be so bad ,some people have used it for years,so they say,

So, no yelling or shouting, or soap box attitudes, just tell me, nicely,

what it's all about  ..

if Zop helps you Jacqueline then great, whats to worry about. I have to be very careful what I take as i can become easily addicted to things. I suffer with bad anxiety which effects my sleep. I am prescribed mirtazipine 30mg one taken nightly, they have a slight sedative in them (at least that's what i'm told) and i sleep well every night. I can't even start to imagine what tinnitus must do to your mental state, I think it'd drive me crazy. Reading all the comments people have put i think alot of them just show concern and want the best for you, as I said at the beginning if the Zops work for you and your doctor isn't concerned about giving you repeats then I agree sleep is definitely better than no sleep, I've been there (having no sleep) and i'd of given my right arm to sleep but due to past problems with addiction my doc wouldn't prescribe me anything. eventually after alot of different appointments i was diagnosed with depression and severe anxiety, which led to being prescribed different types of anti depressants/anxiety pills until a few years back I was given mirtazipine starting at 15mgs and going upto 45mgs I am now feeling the best I have in many years. So I've taken the step to decrease to 30mgs a few months a go and everything is still fine so my nxt step is coming down to 15mgs. Hopefully 1 day I won't need anything but until then i will take the tablet.

Hello Lee,  sleep is good, for everybody, i can't agree with your comment

about the good intentions of some of the users of this site, they were

becoming quite hostile. ,and I only started this site to ask a question.

One for you now. Is the Mirtazapine  just to help you go off to sleep, or does it embrace your other probs ? Sounds as though you are on the mend ,and your attitude is good, so you are half way there.

The Tinnitus is just EXTREMELY  annoying, mental state is not affected, only if I can't sleep, then i get a bit ratty.

i bet you feel better in yourself now that you are getting the "feel

good "" factor back into your life

Yeah the M\Ps are prescribed for anxiety and depression but due to the sedative in them help me get off to sleep and help with what they were prescribed for. They work on the serotonin receptors in the brain to level my moods I suppose they are helping me to feel normal and be able to cope with life, as before I just couldn't cope with the most basic of life skills/problems. Now I can and yes it's great to wake up feeling happy more often than waking up feeling I don't want to open my eyes as that'll mean facing another day. Now I wake up and look forward to the day.

Zopiclone is a controlled drug now , because of the addiction issues .patients build up very quickly a high tolerance and end up needing more which has many side effects and rebound insomnia, anxiety and panic attacks are just a few in some rare cases heath ledger, etc patients overdose and die , to be listed as a controlled drug is not an easy process so research has shown this drug is only to be taken for 4 weeks max unless your gp advises other wise . Previously it has been found patients suffering from other addictions drink and other drugs prescribed and recreational ,are more at risk from this drug , I think the negative messages are from all of us that have become addicted and have gone through withdrawal which I can tell you is awful , I am a nurse and started on 1x7. 5mg after a very violent relationship and 13 years later was taking 10 tablets a night as they had stopped working I am now 3 months off them with specialist help , hope that helps you understand a bit better x

Thank you Amanda ,you must have been thruogh an awful time to have to take so many tablets.  I know that people do overdose with bad results I used to take a pain killer after by -pass it was such a good pain remover. I only took the 8 a day ,buut it was found that people were

overdosing and some deaths occurred so it was withdrawn totally.

which left me  using Paracetamol ,as I can't take strong pain killers

I end up on the ceiling .I am a stickler for taking the proper doses,

I see my Tinnitus manager on Wed. I need some good news from her, but there won't be any (NO CURE) Stress makes it worse, and there is nothing i can do about that at the moment ,Are you O.K. now?

Just add, that I don't drink or take anything strong, only a blood

      pressure tab.

yup thats pretty much the MO of zopiclone. You been off now for 8 weeks cold turkey????? How are you doing with that. Any night sweats, tremors, dark thoughts during the day???? I take my hat off too you, and I know Jac is gonna swear at me but, go to the DR get amytripline it's a Tetracylic anti depreessant, a type of anti d that has sedative properties. There is no need to suffer needlessly. Having said that, if you feel you can keep going cold turkey you have my full and unbridled support, Go to the DR hun ask about SSRI, SNRI, Poss Mitazipine thats a tetracyclic anti-d. take this thread to your DR see what they say. Let me know how your getting on.

Thanks Craig all those symptoms , im not religious but every day I prayed would be better than the last , and finally life is nearly back to normal have a stick bedtime routine and if I wake early I put TV on low hubbie had to sleep in so are room for 8 weeks , but eventually the panic subsided and life's 100% better than before , driving shopping and working , there is hope , unless you have thousands of pounds to spend on rehab there is little help for prescription drug abuse and the knowledge from this sight that we are not alone helped me every step of the way x

Pseudoephedrine and ephedrine  are by far worse in my opinion as nobody really knows they are taking what is tantamount to methamphetimine (it's written in tiny little letters on the back of the bottle lol. and yes they work on the adrenergic receptors where as benzo work on the GABA receptors. And make no mistake it is found in MOST cough syrups. I used to drink bottles of the stuff when i was younger (not recommended btw lol)
