All I can tell you is that a compounding pharmacy will give you the best quality boric acid specific to you at all times versus a sometimes "cut" (other additives included) boric acid. You ever read the reviews on amazon of the boric acid products? you will never find a person saying they prefer boric acid on amazon than a compounding pharmacy unless it's cost related.

I've suffered for 10 years my exes sperm started it .

I'd always get rid of it by antibiotics but 3 years ago I got bv and I've had it non stop ever since .

at one point I smelt of the sewers things got so bad.

it was UK suppositories and boric acid that improved my bv but it isn't fully gone I know when I'm on boric acid its goes completely.

I've not had sex in 3 years now .

my triggers was using body wash in the bath and washing my hair in the bath and sperm but that doesn't factor this occasion.

also I'm OCD with cleaness I use the best washing powder and conditioner and that's what has triggered me with this 3 year bout of bv .

I've since changed all that I use non bio washing powder I use baby conditioner and I use cotton pads and no products in my bath and i only wash my lady garden with special non scent cream and hot water i no longer freshen up with baby wipes down there .

sperm didnt start this 3 year bout though so I started it .

I also suffer serious mental health problems and I've sti for life and when my immune system is low I reckon that's why I caught it again 3 years ago .

I've tried everything and I mean everything.

I'm waiting from Amazon for apple cider vinegar apparently it will freshen my lips and vulva outer vagina .

I'm 36 I've 3 years and a few months until I only have a 10% chance of getting pregnant.

ive no kids or a partner and I really really need this to fully go .

my story: well.... i have been dealing with bv for 5 years now. I have tried everything nothing has worked. It all started when my husband of 10 years was cheating on me and the girl he was cheating on me with must of had bv and didn't know it so now im suffering for his mistakes. I cant even get a nob because the smell is so bad! I'm at a point that i dont know what else to do. I need to find something for the smell. Its ruining my life!

only one but honestly im not even sure it is a trigger lol i just know any time after sex with my fiance the smell gets worse but thats the thing how am i supposed to Kno what a trigger is if the smell wont go away?

your period and semen be the main thing, but that elevates mine and of course i do smoke and drink and love sweets so those are mine lawd i have to slow down!

So everytime you've been treated for it did the doctors ever confirm you didn't have it? Cos if treatment isn't curing it then you need to see a specialist. I was almost to the point of seeing one if mine was anymore persistent but luckily this last time medication worked. I highly suggest you find out what your triggers are. That's the most important thing in all of this aside from treatment.

men can't catch bv I know this because when I had my first bv positive I asked the nurse about it .

men can get bv and i know that because my fiance has been treated lots of times because my doc said that he could be giving it back to me and i got it from my first husband when he was sleeping around on me. I have always been a very clean person so theirs no other way i could of got it.

In all honesty it sounds like your gyno either doesn't care or is a total idiot who is misinforming you. Men can't carry BV because they don't have vaginas. It's called bacterial vaginosis for a reason. You ever think maybe every time your fiance showers before sex he's using a soap that's disrupting your flora? I'm telling you, treatment is irrelevant if you don't know what your triggers are. And I'm not sure if you do follow up appointments after treatment to see if you are cured, but this will help you know whether the medication has worked or not. If you're not cured, you need to be referred to a vaginitis specialist. What they do is focus on what microorganism is affecting you and will provide you an effective treatment plan. If the antibiotics do cure you, then I hate to break it to you but there is no medication in the world that will prevent the next infection if you don't know what's causing it in the first place. You will always get it if you don't know what your triggers are.

what do you mean borderline BV? Is your pH at a 4.5? I can't imagine there not being instructions or info on the packaging for the pH strips. Or just google it.

have u been swabbed for stds as trich can smell bad aswel also men cant get bv its only women that get it

make sure you get tested for all stds trich smells like that to etc...

I was gonna ask if you could talk to your doctor why your pH is normal even though you have a smell, but they don't really seem like they know what they're doing. The fact they would even treat your fiance for BV is very odd. Also, could you explain your symptoms a bit more? What kind of smell is it? Fishy, or?

You should find a new doctor. I don't know how many you've seen but it's not good that there aren't any treatments working for you.

yea its a strong fish smell and nothing i do helps! and yes i have been tested for all stds and everything has been negative.

but the result charge is hard to determine the colours look the same shade .

I had a negative test at the gum clinic Thursday the nurses showed me the results she also said I didn't smell when they examined but I know it's not right I get a slight fishy smell in the morning after night.

my knickers are clean enough until I go to bed by morning I've the fish smell slightly back so how they can say I haven't got bv I dont know .

I also get a slight smell from my bum I looked it up and its bv apparently according to the 60 sites I've read through .

I got 10 tests from amazzon but like i said the colour chart is confusing the colours all look the same .

i used 1 pessary Friday I've to use 1 a week to stop a break out of bv .

my smell is a lot fresher once I'd smell through my bed covers my clothes I couldn't go out for 6 months .

only down side is ...trying everything you guys use I've had vitamin c suppositories I've had boric acid I changed.washing powders I only bath in clean water and I use non perfume wash my nurse recommended 5 years ago .

bv cant be passed on to a Male I'd guess it was his sperm because that's how mine started in 2009 and I use to get countless water infections my wee would smell of rotten eggs I'd get bv and thrush all from my ex sperm .

For me, it was metro gel for a week and then once a week for 2 months. And what's silver water? I would still go to the doctor's and find someone else.

i was but they wasnt doin anything so i stopped taking them. yea i have tried prob every medicine u can think of and literally nothing has worked!

because when u are laid down at night the discharge collects inside and then expels when u get up on a morning mine used to always be bad on a morning

the best thing u can do if u get a negative test at the clinic or doctors is to do an instant home test canesten do one for bv as doctors and clinic tests are sent to a lab by the time they get there the bacteria can die which will give u a false negative test result

a home test will give you a definate reusult straight away rather than having to wait for one which may not be reliable

That's not true at all. You ever heard of clue cells? They bind to the skin cells in your vagina which indicates BV.

I'm starting to believe that some of these women don't have good health care providers. Viewing specimens under a microscope, using a swab to do the "whiff test" with a potassium type of liquid, and checking pH (I might have left out one) are the only ways they can tell you if you have BV. And they do these all at once when you go to the doctors. If you get a false negative I assume that must be really rare or a failure on the medical side.

So I'm not sure if you have done the metro along with boric acid but that's something i would talk to my doctor about. I would also take probiotics too because that would help with creating good flora that you probably don't have. It won't cure an existing infection, but it may slightly minimize current symptoms. Also, if you're switching doctors, I had 3 total when I was dealing with my issues and my last one took me serious because everytime I had symptoms, I went there. Even if I was sick or taking the medication, I still went. She started taking me serious as she was seeing how my frequency wasn't normal.

You're trying all of these things and ultimately hurting yourself. You need to stop obsessing so much. If you smell fish, don't do anything other than go to doctors! Let them check what you smell and if they confirm that you don't have it, leave it alone. If you do, I'll pray you find a gyno who can take you serious.
