Will I experience withdrawls of zoloft after 3 days of taking 25mg?

I have been on zoloft for 3 days 25 mg and I'm having serious side effects I have decided to stop taking and inform my doctor, will I go through withdrawls after only 3 days of 25 mg? I seriously pray not, I have read many of the problems everyone on here has suffered and I have to say I hope things get better for you. I pray I don't suffer the same problems after only 3 days!!

Hi, sorry about writing this in an old thread,

After reading this post about every bodies situations I just started this medication for minor anxiety and depression and have only taken 1, 50mg tablet and the side effects mainly headache and dizziness have destroyed me, wonder if not taking anymore would lead me to withdrawal or since Iv only taken 1 it should be fine ?

I was feeling better the day before I took this pill

      Hi Chris,

I only took sertraline for about two weeks and experienced the most excruciating migraines/headaches/brain zaps. It is difficult to describe. That was back in march/April of this year. Feeling better now but my suggestion to you is if you can deal with the side affects of this medication than continue them. Keep in mind though that withdrawel is horrible if and when you decide to stop them, especially if you've been on them for months years (this is what I've heard from others who took them longer than I did). Taking them for such a short amount of time and experiencing terrible symptoms (headaches were the worst), then dealing with the withdrawel was not worth it to me. I can just deal with the mild anxiety naturally. Hope you feel better and best of luck to you!

Thank you for your reply ! , glad to hear it's getting better for you , hopefully with some guidance from my gp it can be stopped/slowly reduced as Iv only started and taken 1 pill which was today, and as you said the side effects were horrible to deal with. Iv been reading about withdrawals and that scares me (from what Iv read online). Hopefully when I speak to my gp tomorrow something will get sorted out.

      Thank you !

      Hi xghost123,

I took the Zoloft for roughly two weeks and I found myself being more hungry that usual. After reading up on it extensively yes one of the biggest side effects is weight gain! Thats with most antidepressants. Many people may not realize it because they are taking other meds or the weight might be gradual. Then when they realize its the Zoloft and try to taper, you're hit with the nasty physical side affects like headaches. Two weeks on it and I had massive headaches, stomach like flu symptoms, constant hunger. After I stopped the headaches lasted for months. Its a terrible medicine that does more harm than good, in my opinion.

      Hi leaharabella,

thank you , but does it make u feel good bcz am thinking about stoping taking it cause i dont want to harm my body

I wouldn't say it made me "feel good". They doctors typically tell you it takes a month or so to kick in. By them you will have already suffered from the physical symptoms and may feel worse, like I did.  It should be prescribed for people with depression, but doctors are handing it out for just about anything to their patients, to treat stress, anxiety, depression just about anything if a patient comes in complaining about everyday stressors. Antidepressants have caused an epidemic, people that would have been perfectly fine without them now are running back with physical symptoms, which in turn are prescribed other antidepressants, upped dosages etc. Leading to a life long dependency of medications. I don't know, I've never felt worse from being on a medicine for such a short time...never in my life. These meds are dangerous and the patient should being informed of the horrendous side affects before they are prescribed these so they can decide if its worth it or not.

      Hi ghost,

I recently took this about 2 months ago, I'm not too sure on the weight gain but can tell you that the side effects are the worst ever even tho I only took 1 pill for 1 day it took like 2 weeks after that to finally clear my tension headache for stress and anxiety which has led to minor depression. It really wasn't worth it to be honest.

Hi everyone,I know this is an older post but it comes up when I googled going off zoloft and it seems to be revived pretty often!

I took Zoloft for about a week and I was MISERABLE. I took 25mg for 4 days and then 12.5mg for two days. Day 2 I felt like I had the flu and got hot and cold chills. I was nauseated, weak, couldn't get out of bed without shaking. I also had EXTREME panic attacks that lasted for 3 days. I went without sleeping for over 24 hours because my body just would not relax and I felt so sick to my stomach I couldn't sit still. Finally on that last day I decided I needed to go to the ER and get some help. They decided I needed to stop the zoloft and gave me visatril to help temporarily with the anxiety. Even though they knew I had taken a small dose, the next few days will be tough.

I flushed my zoloft down the toilet last night and today is my 2nd day off of it. I woke up with anxiety but I was able to get over a lot of it. A good chunk of my anxiety is health related and that's still here but overall I feel a lot better. I'm a little shakey and woozy but nothing compared to how I felt on the zoloft. I'm hoping a few more days and this poison will be gone from my system. I hope to move forward with therapy and cbd and meditation. Now that I know that I do not want to be medicated, I think I may be able to handle my anxiety better.

      Hi samantha !

I had same issue as you I was on sertraline/Zoloft in July of this year for literally 1 day, I only took 1 50mg tablet and it destroyed me and honestly took around 2-3 days to lose the side effects as I didn’t eat, nausea, shaking, headache basically everything !

After a week I noticed it was better ! Fully out of my system. the first time (and only time) taking it is the worse personally. it does ease off, and I had anxiety and tension headache  and found to be coping better without medication.

This was my point of view, as I guess everyone reacts different to it but will get better ! Plenty of water and trying to sit outdoors if possible !!

      I hope I could help

I stopped after three days of 50mg and i was fine. I felt strangely over-excited and happy the first day which was fun, the second a bit more low and emotional (burst into tears) but felt better every day. It was mental that physical withdrawal if anything.

I have been on Zoloft 100mg now for about a year . The last 4 weeks I have had diahrea, nauseousness and dizziness. I am trying to reach my doctor, and want to stop taking Zoloft. I have also gained 15+ lbs in less than 4 months.

I took 3 pills (50mg) and stopped as I was feeling extremely fatigued and that was not going to work for me.  I am on 3rd day after stopping and feeling fatigued still. Anyone know how many days until it is completely out of my system?  I took the last one on a Thursday night. It is Sunday afternoon... and i am lying down trying to take a nap.

Hi I hope you are doing well. I was wondering how long until you felt better again? I got prescribed Zoloft for anxiety 6 days ago I just developed horrible anxiety this year... I went to the ER twice for it (first time at the hospital little did I know they couldn't do much for me but prescribe ativan, which helped me the past month but I was aware it was short term) the doctor the other day was very short with me and didnt even tell me any side effects but I tried to not read things online. I took my first 25 mg pill last tuesday night, I was up all night, barely wanted to go to work, I had a little hallucination at work... and I wasn't just nauseated I was non-stop vomiting, I had no appetite, if I forced myself to eat it would just come back up again, took it Wednesday night praying I would be okay, same symptoms, and I called off work, I had a mental breakdown that night. Called my doctor they said try taking it in the morning and cut it in half. I really didnt want to take it friday but I started having a bad pain in my neck, I couldnt get out of bed friday. Had another mental breakdown and quit my job. I felt like I was loosing my mind. Yesterday (saturday) I laid in bed all day still couldn't hardly eat. I decided I am done taking this medication. I felt like I didnt want to live anymore finally got some sleep. Today is Sunday 2 days without it. Woke up with fast heart beat and anxiety but feeling better than on the medication. I am praying I will feel better the next couple days. The same thing happened to me on only 10 mg of Lexapro about a month ago. I only took it for 2 days, I had sucidial thoughts on day 2 and had flu-like symptoms for almost a week. I guess SSRIs arent for me. Idk how only taking a little dose could make me feel so horrible. I am going to find a way to help myself naturally. I know everyone told me keep taking it, it will get better but I didn't think how I felt the past few days was worth it. It was way worse than before the medication.

Oh no! How are you feeling now? I actually stopped taking zoloft within 2 days of starting it. Then a after seeing both my primary care and physcoligist I was told to begin it again but take it at night. I did as recommended and have been ok. A few weeks ago I tried reducing my dose. I truly don't want to be on all these prescriptions. I was nauseous and dizzy, as well as severely emotional. My boyfriend asked that I take it again, at least until I had a follow up with the doctor. I see them the 26th or 28th. I would like to get off them and go naturally. Cbd or

      medical marijuana.

In my case, I felt way better after I stopped taking it. Highly recommend listening the audio book: DARE. You can download free fo m Amazon if you have Amazon Prime. It is a life-changing book (or audio book — which is even better as the author narrates it). Best wishes - hang in there!

      Hi Ariel,

I experienced side affects for months after stopping Zoloft. It altered my perception of pain. I believe this drug shouldn’t be prescribed to people that already have anxiety. It makes anxiety worse because of all the physical side affects it causes. I hope you stay feeling better and know that the physical symptoms will eventually disappear.
