You know what I hate?

I posted this in another converstation but thought it might be fun to start a 'whinge' post. What do you 'hate'?
You know what I hate?
People who, even when they know I have PMR, suffer fatigue, on a cocktail of medications - all of which have caused a huge weight gain, tell me I need to go for a walk as it will make me feel better!!

I think you all should just 'chill' and smile.
Hate is a wasteful use of your energy and resources just think
It takes 17 muscles to smile and 42 muscles to frown
A DVD to hand to your family and friends, educates them.
A stencil on your forehead (not a Tattoo as you can remove the stencil) saying 'Yes, I don't look ill but I am'.

Lodger, I agree.
But sometimes we need to vent. If resentment is bottled up inside, that can't be good. And here is a safe place to vent.
There, don't you all feel much better? Now think of something you love.
I love that I live near a walking trail where I can enjoy sea air and a micro-climate of a scrap of urban wilderness. I love that although I hate my shoes I can walk. ?

Lodger, we ARE smiling, it's just nice to have a chat about something a little less serious on our forum.😀

Perhaps our next topic should be "what do you like/love doing that is free and enjoyable"????

Maybe a better question might have been "What drives you up the wall...?"
Hate is really a bit harsh for my dislike!

We don't benefit from "just smiling." I know I benefit from people on this list who genuinely KNOW how I feel, and it is so comforting to know I am not alone. It does help to vent with people who truly understand. I find it good therapy. I'm still trying to think of something to show or say as a reminder of what I'm going through every minute of every day. A "PMR" bumper sticker won't work because one friend thought I had said "PMS." (I'm a guy.)

use......even if he recognized the PMR he would ask what that
meant. Two weeks ago I asked a female pharmacist if she had
ever heard of PMR and of course, she said no.......

Yes, I too hate being told "you look so well".
Another one is "so, what are they doing about it?" (meaning the doctors)
But the worst is that I no longer look like "me"! I'm now a big blob with a puffy hamster face!

I love that I live near the sea and can take in the fresh air, even though I can't walk far. I also love that I have two cuddly dogs who like nothing better than to snuggle.

Joanne, Hooray! You've got the best answer, for me. The best relief available--my dog! I have two pain killers when my headache or whatever gets really fierce. My 5mg oxycodone & a tylenol (same as percocet) or my dog. Her name is "Phoebe," but sometimes I call her "Oxy." I look at her, or touch her, and I feel my blood pressure going down. Maybe we could all offer things that give us even slight respite from this grief. I enjoy the many available CD's of "Bob and Ray" whom I've liked since I was in grade school and listened secretly on radio in my bed when they were on. Others here have mentioned DVD's like "The Best of Carson," etc. But mainly, if someone doesn't already have one--get a dog! Preferably from a shelter and you'll have the added enjoyment of having saved a life.

You are sooo right. I type this as I snuggle with my doggy Poppy - can't sleep but am now calm and chilled. Can't beat it.

I ordered Notes from a Small Island first and will order Little
Dripping down the road......I'd like to read them in order....

I must correct myself. It's Little Dribbling! In this book Bryson revisits places similar to the ones he had gone to twenty years earlier. It is completely free-standing. Notes would be a historic document now, and Dribbling is more current.

Looking forward to reading them.....thanks again....

Bill Bryson, it is 'The Road to Little Dribbling' not 'Dripping'

Yes, I corrected that somewhere earlier today on this thread. I've been having trouble with the title because "dripping" seems so very English. I mean no one else calls the fat coming out of roasting meat dripping.

It's okay.....i found the right title on Amazon.....not a problem....
I ordered both books....
