i am so confused my doctors say they dont know what is wrong so now just say oh you have chronic pain we think. but i dont understand why when i had my MRI why they said they thought i should be having a brain scan can anybody help me with this or give me any advise? i am so stressed out with all this i know something is not right i know my know body but its as if know body wants to find out know that they have put down that it maybe chronic paini would be so greatful if someone could explain

Have alot of same symptoms, started from injury and scoliosis, chiropractor tells me there is a nerve that travels along from neck to hip, mine is also on left side, pulls my muscles so bad it pulls bones out of place, tons of medicine, but have not gotten the medical community to find the problem, have also been told fm and to take antidepressents. I too am at my witts end, they all act like your nuts! Mine actually broke my back it twisted me so bad, the muscles lock down that hard. Have had alot of MRI and to no avail. Yeah its chronic pain but its has got to be something causing it. I feel your pain. I wear a lift on the right shoe cause they found out I have a leg length diff. I had to have lumbar fusion and rods in my lower back, better than when this started I thought I would go insane from the pain and nerve pain.

Well to start off, I've been suffering from the same exact symptoms, but for 9 years straight, and still going. It also took me 9 years to find this post!
Anyways, here are some things I went through
- Like the most of you people, it all began with a spine injury(lower back injury, and nothing severe).
- The pain switches between either my left or my right side of my body(head to toe).
- When I'm laying on my side on a bed or any flat surface, the pressured side(left or right) begins to suffer from the same symptoms that we are all suffering from.
- When I cross my legs while I'm sitting on a couch or a chair, the symptom begins(or worsens existing one) also.
- The symptom sneaks up on me every single time. It is very hard to determine the cause for the symptom unless you're tracking every single posture that you went through for the day, and analyze the data it within your head, and compare pain occurences/severeness/length in time with your past posture habits. So it took me 8 years to fully realize and believe that these were the two main cause for the symptoms to begin. The first 7 years were a living nightmare, because I did not know what was causing these symptoms, and what was making it worse. I was in a non-stop pain for 7 consecutive years. My mental state was on par with any of the old time war prisoner who got tortured for years of time. The only difference was, that no one bothered to acknowledge my invisible symptoms. Not even the doctors did. I've went through more than 80 doctors over several years. Only 1 doctor figured it out, and he named it "fibromyalgia"
Now take a note on this regarding pain sneaking up on you, because since there exist no medical cure for this, and the doctors won't ever tell you anything to help remedy the symptoms besides prescribing you with narcotic painkillers, you must figure it out on your own. I did the elimination method, and on my 8th year, I've finally figured it out.(well to the point where I can remedy myself to keep my sanity)
Now for the things I do every day, for year round, and perhaps for the rest of my life to prevent myself from getting the symptom back.
- I need minimum of 8 hours of sleep every day, or even 12 hours, depending on my condition. If I didn't get enough sleep 1~2 days ago, then I must make up for the missing sleep time. This is why I stay away from caffeine.
***If I dont get enough sleep, no matter how much attention I give to my daily postures, or how much I try to relax my affected body from head to toe, the symptom stays.
- The moment I realize that the symptom have appeared, I pay full attention to my affected area of my body(left or right; from head to toe), and force them to relax. Even after years of giving myself the same treatment over and over again, it's still difficult for me to tell whether if my left or right body are in a contracted state or in a relaxed state. It is kind of obvious as the symptom brings the pain as well as the dullness along with it.
- I'm a bodybuilder, and lifting heavy weights(over hundreds of pounds) 6 days a week did not have any negative effect on the occurences of the symptom. Having more lean muscle mass and having more control on my body, in terms of relaxing and contracting muscles allowed me to escape from the symptom more efficiently.
- Contrary to popular belief with most people, mental stress didn't affect the symptom that much. So basically I dont ever stress myself with the idea that I must stay away from stress.
- I stay away from wearing tight clothes. that means absolutely no tight jeans, no jeans, no jeans, and no heavy clothes that may affect my posture. I always stick with reasonably flexible clothes that hardly pulls or pressures my skin or muscle regardless of my posture.
- Do I take any medicine for muscle relaxation or painkilling purposes? No I do not anymore.
- I sleep on the floor(with somewhat thin&soft padding on it), and not in a bed. (it is highly likely that this may not apply to you, because of differences in our bodyshapes.) Since I suffer from fibromyalgia, sleeping in bed just forces me to stay immobile in 1 spot in order to not fall from bed. This caused much strain in my body. I need to move around a lot comfortably while I'm sleeping, and thats why I chose the floor.
In short, do enough sleeping, adapt to new postures, and learn to relax your body even when your body is feeling already relaxed(fight off the wrong sensory signals)

Like you have had many years suffering. May I add to a few of your solution points which I also usemany of after finding out the hard way myself.
My pain would get worse the more I walked. Poor gait and immobile ankle mobility affects everything further up the chain so to speak. Tight left leg , Tight left hip , Pain in left side of neck & radiating down the left arm.
I Go through a routine on waking up,like you Imust get a least 7 hours+ sleep
I go through a series of Posture corrections around 15-20 mins
My posture is really poor I also have a mild Disc herniation which I'm in the middle of fixing.
I Go through a series of Ankle mobility exercises 5-10 mins
I relax my body consiously after, staying "dead still" to let everything settle & energize myself
On a good week I can feel almost normal! Thanks for sharing your experiences, good luck everyone, keep up the posts together we can beat this thing.

I have had pain on my left leg since 2007 following an auto accident.
Doctors don't seem to take the time to really investigate what's going on.
My natureopathic physician said that he couldn't say what causes it, but that Lauricidin could help with the pain. It eliminated it, but only with continued use.
It is a derivitive of the coconut.
Recently, the pain has gone from head to toe, along with fever, chills, and spinal pain.
Doc thinks it is separate issues.
I had an inoculation for shingles. Doc treated me for shingles with Vanciclovir for seven days. I felt great for three days, then symptoms of fever, chills returned.
I don't know what to think.
I am into essential oils, so today started taking my immunity capsule of three oils, in addition to the Lauricidin.
We shall see.
Doc is trying to schedule a MRI.

The same thing was happening to me, pain from top left to top bottom with slight tingling. What i found helped was slightly bending the spine to the left, and then shortly afterwards, a sharp recurrent pain started shooting down the left side of T2 (Can't tell if it's internal), so I think I've probably found the culprit in my case. If it's not T2, it's a nearby vertebra most likely (Possibly a cervical vertebra).

Hi Laura. Just came across your post while trying to investigate what's going on with me. I'm have been having exact same symptoms as you specified here for some weeks now and then have had a few tests here there including ECG twice as the pain radiates to sharp pain in chest too. But from my recent research and past history I think it might be Vitamin D deficiency and I am waiting for my test result for Vit D level.
How did it go with you? Hope you are OK now?

I am curious, anyone with these symptoms also taking High Blood Pressure Medicine? Specifically Amlodipine or other Calcium Channel Blocker?
See my thread and others on AMLODIPINE side effects. For some reason most people complain about the left side of body. I'm very curious if others in this discussion are taking AMLODIPIONE for high blood pressure.

I did fine with the Beta Blockers by the way. Only untill Doc switched me off Beta Blocker and on to Calicum Channel Blocker did I start having trouble. (Side note, your mispell "Lansing" freaked me out a little, I live in the City of Lansing, LOL)
