Feels like something is stuck in my throat

Okay, so.... I've been getting this feeling like something is stuck in my throat and it's really irritating. I don't know what it is. I can swallow properly and my body feels good but i've been gettin' that feeling where i feel like something is stuck in ther and i'm really scared i don't know if it's cancer or something else serious but i'm really worried and i'm 17 with alot of anxiety from it. I don't know what caused this i was recently sick but i feel great now and it's just this throat irritation. I've looked up alot about it on the internet and alot of people say it's caused by gerd (acid reflux) i don't know if that's the case though but lately i've been getting stomach aches and i really think it is caused by this gerd thing. I'm scared cause i don't know what it really is i just need answers on it so i can stop panicing about it cause everytime i panic about it i get anxeity attacks and it's really not healty for the body to be in panic all the time. I also was losing sleep cause of it but not that much no more i have gotten a good sleep last night which is a good sign. If anyone can talk me through this it would be great cause i'm young and i get scared quickly when my body doesn't feel right, i just don't want this to affect me no more cause i have been missing alot of school cause of it and it's starting to worry me more and more everyday. Thank you for taking your time to read this/

Sincerly,

-kyle.

      Hi there,

I am a long time globus sufferer. Female age 49. I've tried several healing methods such as running warm water in my throat during showers, meditation, probiotics & st john's wort.  It  would be wise to seek a dr's opinion but i will tell  you about my globus.First time i had it i tried to stick my finger to feel what 's in there but there was nothing. What is causing it? Stress, anxiety, worries and panic attacks. It is relieved when i eat so i gained weight. I don't mind at all. To cut long story short, i  controlled it by thinking good thoughts happy thoughts. What your mind can conceive your body can achieve. You are very young. What's causing anxiety for you? Is it relationship issues? School?  or something else. As long as there is no pain in swallowing you are absolutely fine. This globus sounds very new to drs. You supply them with symptoms and they give you medications which your body does not need. Only you can manage your symptoms by trying to ease your mind. Our body had its own healing mechanism. So whatever is bothering you right now. Conquer it. Globus is giving you a sensation that isn't actually there. You have a life ahead you . Enjoy it. Cry if you need to. Cause i know globus feels exactly like when you are trying to hold back your tears. So go ahead smile and enjoy life.

I find that mine comes on worse when I am looking at my phone all day. Puts a lot of stress on the neck . It all ways feels better after I have my Chiropractor Adjust my neck .You should try it. It is not cancer.Look up the symptoms of neck cancer most of the time there are none .You're just going to stress yourself out more and make it worse also try a Heating pad around your .Seems to help a lot to loosen up the neck muscles

I have had this same problem for like 9 years now. I remember it started when I was 17 and now I'm 26, I haven't gone to the doctors to get it looked at ever, but for me its a lot worse then  what every one elts on here says about themselves about it. For me I feel the globus sensation in my throught all the time like I mean its allways there  24/7 for the past 9 years now. And what it makes me do is that I will constinly have to hork/ spit it out and it usaly works for me but I could be horning for as long as 3 hours or even longer some times or even only just for a few or a couple horks until I don't feel it anymore but that only lasts for about 10 maybe 20 mins and I feel it agian. So I'll hork and hork and hork all day and night long. And I can't even stop my self from trying to hork it out of my throught that's just what the feeling makes me do. Now I read every ones comments on this topic and I have and still do all the thing you guys said that helps you with it. And it all helps me to but only for the moment that I'm doing those things once I stop the feeling just comes back, but I'll be honeset with you all tho I'm not the most healthiest person to  my self. What I mean is I smoke sigerets a pack a day at least, I only eat unhealthy food like junk food and like mic dicks and s**t like that. I don't drink elcahol tho and I don't do any drugs except for crystal meth that's the only drug I use and I've been using for about 10 years now and I use it everyday and all day usaly, now I have used and thought of every exuse of what it could be that I have and why I have this feeling in my throught like ive thought it could be the meth or even the sigerets or even my unhealthy eating. Or I thought maybe it's just all the above. And I haven't yet seen a docter about it. And I haven't fingered it out out what it could be and why I have the feeling. I just asum it could be eneything or everything but idk lol and i think it can be something different for everyone, and I do think anxiety can be one of the reasons why I have this feeling in my throught, be course I smoke crystal meth and everyone know ppl get anxiety and a hole bunch of other feelings as well on that s**t. But I started thinking yearler on today wile I was looking at my teeth in the mirror, and its kinda funny that I never thought about this a lot so sooner, but I looked past my teeth and staired down the back of my throught and realized that my tonsils were huge, both of them were huge, and then I saw what I thought looked like a relly small tooth sticking out of my right tonsil so I showed and asked my mom about it and she told me its not a tooth, she said it is some kind of a like a air pocket more like a pimple I guess idk really how to describe what it looks like but my mom said that and my huge tonsils I got well she thinks that could be the reason I feel somtging in my throught and I think she might be right too. Anyways sorry for the long story . but yeah if any of you still have your tonsils . take a look at them and see if that might be the resoan for you guys too.

Those white things in your tonsils are tonsils stones I get them a lot . Just gargle with hot salt and water or with mouth wash . I went to the doctor about all the problems y’all are feeling too but I relax my neck and use a hot pad.

I have the same feeling in my throat. It started in October last year when we came back home after a weekend away. My throat felt weird and I had to cough a lot. After a couple of weeks I went to the doctor who couldn't see anything suspicious and asked me to use Corsodyl, medical dental mouth wash. I was then ill and had tonsillitis and needed to take antibiotics. All healed and I was fine for a couple of weeks. I then had a food allergy (not sure what exactly caused this either spicy food or nuts) and this caused the weird feeling in my throat again. I am going to the doctor again tomorrow and I am seriously worried. I am scared something is wrong with me and I will die... It was however good to read all the comments knowing that I am not alone and that this weird throat sensation is quite common. I keep saying to myself that if it was something serious I would definitely develop other symptoms and I would feel unwell by now. I can eat, drink and dont feel anything while I am swallowing so it must be anxiety.

A had the exact same thing! I was VERY scared too but then realized that since I was getting over a stomach virus and burping a lot it had to be GERD. Mine stopped over night. All I did was sleep on my left side for one night with my head slightly elevated from my pillow! And it was gone the next morning!

Just wanted to give an update from my previous post. I went to the doctor who referred me to the 'neck & head' specialist. I had my throat properly checked with the camera going through my nose and he diagnosed me with the 'silent reflux' (similar to GERD) and prescribed medication to take for next three months. I also need to change my diet and stop having coffee, tea, tomatoes, spicy food etc. Also, to make sure he referred me for the MRI scan & ultrasound scan. My next follow up appointment is at the end of March where they will discuss my scan results. My GP suggested I will also give my poop sample as most likely I may carry a bug in my stomach which will need an antibiotic. I already started to feel better after the medication so I am more positive.

Hi, hope you are ok and got better? Apologies I only respond now. The test were done to make sure I am 100% ok. If you see your doctor they will be able to help you and possibly suggest similar check up. Good luck and let me know how did you get on.
