    Hi Everyone,

Not been on here for a while so thought I would do a quick update. Been feeling generally quite good maybe a wee bit more anxious but not much I am doing more so it could be that.

Went to see my new Endo yesterday, she is very nice.

So my latest blood tests are:-

    TSH 8.59 down from 28.7

T3 3.5 was not readable last time

    T4 20 up from 16.

As everything is heading the right way she wants me to stay on 100mg of Thyroxine and go back and see her in 8 weeks. She said not to worry about the T4 going up and it is only 1 point above the ref range up here, its because I take the thyroxine which is T4 in the morning and also have my bloods done in the morning so there is a lot still in my system.

She was a bit concerned about my eyes and says its because they let me go so far under after the RAI that has set them off, great!! She is confident that being on the Thyroxine will help them but if I noticed them getting worse I have to contact her straight away. I am going to try the artificial tears and see if they help.

Went back to work this week only for three days to start, I was cream crackered on Monday but have managed quite well for the rest of the days, aiming to go in for four days next week and then we are off to North Wales on holiday for a week, can't wait.

I even managed to do a wee shop in Tesco was well proud of myself! It is really nice to get back to well just normal life. Oh and just to top everything off I even managed to lose a pound this week not much I know but at least its off and not on :D

Jane I too googled your Hubby's condition and fingers crossed it seems to be very treatable.

    Hope everyone else doing ok?

    Take Care All,

    Kat xxxx

    Hello everybody,

Thanks for your support, I've spent too long on google recently looking up pituitary issues so am trying to wean myself off a bit.

My left eye seems to be sticking to the lid a bit, the eyeball is red and the whole socket feels sort of bruised. It seems a bit better today after I've put drops in yesterday. It isn't bulging at all, I have been quite stressed so was going to just live with it until things calm down a bit. I still feel slightly hyper but nothing too serious.

The dog cut his pad badly on a walk which wouldn't stitch, poor thing has pressure sores now from the bandages. I feel like we have a season ticket at the bloody vets at present, they havnt felt tempted to knock some money off despite putting his bandages on too tight.

Go Kat, well done on your first week back at work and feeling good. I hope everyone else is okay.

I'm off to a presentation evening with my son so need to put some lippy on!

    Thank you all again

    Hello everyone

Jane so sorry about your husbands bad news , i hope they get him better very soon.

Kat glad your ok and work went ok smile

Bess im glad your feeling better and not worrying to much, i dont understand why you arnt under a endo, thyroid runs in my family and when i first saw the endo he said he thinks i have graves ,i asked on my last visit if i could have the test for graves but he started talking about mri scans and things so i said i wouldnt bother, how come if its in your family they dont send you to a endo? i thought they did no matter what.

Ive felt panicky again for the last couple of days, i was feeling loads better then it just came on ,been to the doctor this afternoon and hes put me at ease, he did a good check up on me but said hes worried about the weight im still loosing so ive got to have regular checks with him, im lucky to have a good doctor. he said i can stay on the propranolol if i wanted to smile .

    hope everyone else is ok

    Take care Deb xx

    Hello everyone.

Hi Kat. It sounds like you're doing ok. My T4 was 18 last time and the time before. My endo said that was fine, he thinks it's better that it's at the upper range of normal as my eyes are dodgy. Where will it be when I have it checked at the end of the month, after three months? It's a bit nerve- racking, although I feel ok.My right eye is watery and sore at the moment, so I'm using the artificial tears more. I'm sorry about your eyes, it's a pity they let your levels go so low. My endo told me that it's the sudden drop that does the damage. If you're concerned about them ask to be referred to a thyroid eye clinic. I had to travel quite a distance to one, but it was worth it as they knew what they were talking about. I get the artificial tears on prescription.

You'll be pleased that you coped with work, it's lovely to get back to normal and do ordinary things. You've got your holiday to look forward to as well.

    Take care.

Hi Jane. My eyes get worse when I spend a lot of time on the computer. I'm not surprised you've been stressed, you have a lot on your mind. Your husband must have a good GP, I don't think ours would notice if your leg dropped off.I hope your poor dog is ok, vets don't know how much to charge.

    Take care.

Hi Debs. It sounds like you have a good GP too. I had a good one, but he left. You will have days when you feel panicky. I had a funny day at the

beginning of the week. I couldn't sleep, was panicky and hot and sweaty. Then the next day I was very tearful. It just came out of the blue then I was all right again. I haven't lost any more weight, but I haven't put any back on either. I don't look too bad apart from my arms.

Is your son still enjoying his new school?

Hope everyone else is ok. Are you all right Sue?

hi everyone ,just a quick post to ask if you are all okay ,sorry debs i cant answer that question as my periods stopped years ago ,maybe Jane or Kat can help you there hun...My doctor phoned me to say my bloods were fine and the only test left was the short syncethen test ,i explained that i went for one on the weds but was taken into A&E instead as i wasnt feeling too good ..He was annoyed that the hospital hadnt wrote to him but said he would sort it out ,so now waiting for new test app to come through ,i told him something wasnt right as i shoudnt be getting all these symptoms and i need to get my life back on track , I too get wooshing or ticking in my ears and at night can hear my heartbeat pounding in my ears ,i have had a couple of good days doing my housework then going to town with no symptoms at all then today they have all come back, I had such hopes of feeling on top of the world with thyroxine .My daughter has had to have a blood test and her gp has referred her straight to a surgeon as she has a lump and swelling on her thyroid so what will happen there i dont know ..

Hi All, Hope you all ok. Jane, thinking of you and hoping you coping ok and hope your poor dog is healing ok. You never see a poor vet ! Still, what would we do without them. Sue, I hope you aren't doing too much - bet you are ! lol. Hope your daughter gets sorted out, my grandaughter had the same problem about 2 years ago. Deb, I have read that heavy, frequent periods are often part of the thyroid problem. Do you think your blood sugar might be low at times ?

I went to the doctor today, saw a different one, she was lovely and more or less told me I should have been on a higher dose of carbs in the first place and that's why its taken so long. She has now cut the dose to every alternate day as she didn't want me to stop suddenly. I have to have a blood test again in 4 weeks and she said I will have to be monitored closely as so many people go hyper again when they reduce their meds.

Deb, I have heard of other people not being referred to endos if they dont have thyroid antibodies and the GP can control symptoms, I suppose it depends on where you live etc. Anyway, I'm not going to see that dipstick doctor again and will stick with this one. Fingers crossed that I don't go hyper again, I'm determined to try and keep my stress levels down, I'm sure it makes it worse. Doctor said my TSH is high because of medication.

Marigold, Kat, Dave, Barry and everyone, hope you all ok.

Totally knackered today, early night ! love Bess xxx

I am thinking of phoning the hospital tomorrow to see if they are going to send my app for that short synecethen test i could do with ruling that test out one way or another ,all i know things arent right with me and it needs to be sorted ..

PS and my memory is terrible ,do any of you think its to do with my adrenals ???

    sue xx

Hello Sue, Hope you got on ok and are wired up ok ! I would think the poor memory, aches and dry mouth could all be affected by the adrenals and the thyroid. I get cramp if I dont drink enough, I don't seem to get thirsty so have to remember to drink. I also can hear my heart in my ears at night, I have to move the pillows to get away from it ! I think its due to the thyroid but I read that it can also be caused by anxiety. I'm so sorry you are feeling like this and hope things pick up soon, I'm sure they will. At least something is being done about it. Hang on in there, you wont always feel like this, I know it feels that way at the moment. Thinking of you and hope everyone else ok today. Love to all. Hello everyone.

Hi Debs. It's good your son is enjoying his new school, and has made a lot of friends. It's a worrying time. It is for mams anyway.

Sorry. I can't help about your periods. Mine finished a long time ago. (Thank goodness). smile Your thyroid function does affect them though. What doesn't it affect?

Hi Sue. Sorry about your daughter, if it's not one thing it's another. I hope she gets better soon. Our daughter in law is feeling a bit better now thanks. The sickness has settled down a bit, but she's tired. Running around after a two year old doesn't help. I'd chase up your appointment if you don't hear something soon. You have to make a nuisance of yourself these days before you get what you want. I get cramp in my legs and feet when I'm in bed. It's worse in my toes, it starts when I first get into bed. My toes feel as though they've locked. I usually end up hopping round the bedroom.

Are you all fitted up with your ECG machine? Are you tuned into Radio 1  ?

Hi Bess. It sounds like you're getting somewhere with the different GP. I think it would help if all GPs and endos had to go to a thyroid convention and decided to give the same treatment. We'd know where we were then. smile Your TSH should come down when you reduce the carbs. I'm not eating so many biscuits at the moment. I'm a bit off sweet things for some reason.

Thinking of Kat, Jane, Dave, Barry and everyone else.

    love,

    Marigold

    Hi Everyone,

Just been catching up with all your posts, now I'm back at work the days don't seem long enough!

I'm still feeling not too bad, arms have been aching a bit but I think its because I'm typing more and driving now every day. I felt a bit woosy in my head yesterday but then got home and my son felt the same just colds I think, took some painkillers and extra vitamins and had an early night felt much better this morning. I forget that we can get \"normal\" illnesses!!

I'm now using the artificial tear drops and my eyes seem a wee bit better maybe not so red.

Sue - my goodness it seems never ending for you, I hope you got on okay with the ECG, I'm not really up on the adrenals but like you say its worth getting the test to rule it out. I have to say that I seem to be getting less symptoms still not 100% but definately feel a huge difference since RAI, my heart also seems to have calmed down it does have the occasional race but I'm really not aware of it anymore, sorry you probably don't want to hear all that sad

Bess - your new Doctor sounds much better sometimes I think it helps that someone is just willing to listen if you know what I mean. It's good that she is going to monitor you closely that will give you some reassurance.

Debs - I feel a bit wonky for a few days before my period, also yes my periods have been really heavy especially when I was really underactive. Now my levels are nearly within range they seem to be slightly less heavy and not lasting as long, I hope this continues!

Marigold - glad your daughter-in-law is doing better. You ok, when is your next blood test?

Jane - hope you are all doing ok, how you doing on the higher dose of thyroxine?

I have a day off tomorrow, can't wait no alarm and also getting my hair done in the afternoon :D

    Take Care,

    Love
