Severed Thumb Tendon

I recently accidently severed the tendon in my thumb and I know I will need surgery to recconnect it but I was just curious on the recovery time and when I'll be out of the splint and hopefully moving my thumb again.

Tendons take a fairly long time to completely mend. I believe 4-6 weeks in a cast and a splint for some time after that. May be able to start with a little movement after that but may not be able to lift/grab things for another 2, 3, 4 weeks.

I'm not a doctor I'm a physical therapist, and now a coach/consultant for injury prevention, body movement/mechanics, human performance and pain management. My biz and website is BodyGrades.

Let me know how it goes.
