Professor Cathy Jackson graduated from Manchester Medical School having gained a first-class honours degree in physiology along the way. 

After training in medicine she became a GP and academic with a research interest in inflammatory airways disease and portfolio-based medical information.
 
She is now Executive Dean of the Faculty of Clinical and Biomedical Sciences and Head of the School of Medicine at the University of Central Lancashire. In addition to research publications, Cathy has authored a number of commentary pieces for a variety of both medical and veterinary journals and contributed chapters to a number of books in addition to authoring a textbook on clinical communication skills.
