Genitourinary medicine
The medicines in this section include those used for treating genito-urinary problems. Urinary incontinence, the unwanted leaking of urine, can be managed by following practical self-help advice, but medicines such as solifenacin or oxybutynin can also help. An enlarged prostate gland can make it difficult to pass urine; medicines such as tamsulosin can relieve the symptoms and dutasteride can treat the condition. There are many different antibiotics available to treat or prevent urinary tract infections; trimethoprim and nitrofurantoin are common examples. Erectile dysfunction is commonly treated with medicines such as sildenafil and tadalafil.
