Pharmacy First is a service that enables patients to visit a pharmacy for advice, treatment, and medication for a range of common conditions without needing to see a GP first. Pharmacy First is a brilliant new service that enables pharmacists to advise and treat patients for seven common conditions without the need to see a GP or other healthcare provider.

Conditions

You can now be seen and treated by a pharmacist if you have earache (ages 1-17), impetigo (age 1 and over), infected insect bites (age 1 and over), shingles (age 18 and over), sinusitis (age 12 and over), sore throat (age 5 and over), and uncomplicated UTI's (women aged 16-64).

Medication

Medication for conditions such as earache, sore throat, UTI's, and infected insect bites are now available directly from your pharmacist. There are also many other types of medication that can be bought over-the-counter such as emergency contraception, painkillers, hay fever treatment, constipation relief, and basic first-aid items.

Sexual health

You can visit a pharmacy for a range of sexual health services such as contraception and STI testing.
