These salted buttered pecans with orange and nutmeg are a sophisticated take on a classic vegetarian snack. By roasting the nuts in melted butter and warming spices, you unlock a deep, earthy flavour that perfectly complements the bright, citrusy notes of fresh orange zest. The addition of a generous pinch of salt creates a moreish balance, making these an excellent choice for a festive nibble or a simple evening treat.
Quick to prepare and wonderfully aromatic, this homemade recipe is far superior to shop-bought alternatives. They are ideal for serving alongside a cheeseboard or as a crunchy topping for autumn salads. For the best results, ensure you use fresh nutmeg and zest the orange just before use to capture the essential oils and vibrant fragrance.
