Ingredients for Tomato toast with chives and sesame seeds

  • 1 garlic clove, finely grated

  • 120 ml mayonnaise

  • kosher salt

  • 1/2 lemon, juiced

  • 4 slices country-style bread, 1.2 cm thick, toasted

  • 3 medium tomatoes, thinly sliced

  • 30 ml finely chopped chives

  • 10 ml toasted sesame seeds

  • flaky sea salt

  • freshly ground black pepper

  • aleppo-style pepper (for serving; optional)

  • extra-virgin olive oil (for drizzling)

How to make Tomato toast with chives and sesame seeds

  1. Mix the garlic and mayonnaise in a small bowl. Squeeze about 5 ml of juice from half the lemon into the bowl and season with sea salt. Set the remaining lemon aside.

  2. Spread a generous layer of the seasoned mayonnaise over the toast. Arrange a few slices of tomato on top, overlapping them slightly.
