Ingredients for Tomato toast with chives and sesame seeds
1 garlic clove, finely grated
120 ml mayonnaise
kosher salt
1/2 lemon, juiced
4 slices country-style bread, 1.2 cm thick, toasted
3 medium tomatoes, thinly sliced
30 ml finely chopped chives
10 ml toasted sesame seeds
flaky sea salt
freshly ground black pepper
aleppo-style pepper (for serving; optional)
extra-virgin olive oil (for drizzling)
How to make Tomato toast with chives and sesame seeds
Mix the garlic and mayonnaise in a small bowl. Squeeze about 5 ml of juice from half the lemon into the bowl and season with sea salt. Set the remaining lemon aside.
Spread a generous layer of the seasoned mayonnaise over the toast. Arrange a few slices of tomato on top, overlapping them slightly.
Sprinkle with chopped chives, sesame seeds, sea salt, black pepper, and Aleppo-style pepper.
Finely grate some lemon zest from the reserved lemon over the tomatoes and drizzle with a little oil.
