Why this happens

Both alprazolam and the codeine in co-codamol are 'depressants'. When used together, they have an additive effect, meaning they significantly increase each other's sedative properties and their ability to slow down your breathing.

You should not take these medicines together unless specifically instructed and monitored by your doctor. If you feel excessively dizzy, sleepy, or have any difficulty breathing, seek emergency medical help immediately. Do not drive or operate machinery. Avoid all alcohol.
