There is no interaction between these two items because they are the same medication (buprenorphine) at different strengths. However, using two patches at once increases the total dose of medicine in your body.

Why this happens

Both patches contain buprenorphine. Applying a 10 microgram/hour patch and a 20 microgram/hour patch at the same time results in a total delivery of 30 micrograms of buprenorphine per hour.

Only use the specific dose prescribed by your doctor. If your doctor has told you to use both patches together to reach a 30 microgram dose, follow their instructions carefully. Do not add extra patches yourself, as this increases the risk of serious side effects like extreme sleepiness or breathing difficulties. Always change your patches on the same day each week as directed.
