Can I take 10 and Guanfacine prolonged-release together?

Combining alcohol with guanfacine can make you feel extremely sleepy, dizzy, or lightheaded. It can also cause your blood pressure to drop too low, which might lead to fainting.

Why this happens

Both alcohol and guanfacine have a 'depressant' effect on the central nervous system and both can lower blood pressure. When taken together, these effects are added together (additive effect), making the side effects much stronger and more dangerous.

It is best to avoid or strictly limit alcohol while taking guanfacine. Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel drowsy or dizzy. If you feel faint when standing up, sit or lie down immediately and speak to your doctor.
