Taking sildenafil (Viagra) and testosterone together can increase the risk of side effects related to your heart and blood pressure. Both medications can cause your blood vessels to widen, which may lead to headaches, dizziness, or a sudden drop in blood pressure when you stand up. Additionally, testosterone can sometimes increase the number of red blood cells, which might affect your circulation while using sildenafil.

Why this happens
Sildenafil works by relaxing blood vessels (vasodilation) to improve blood flow. Testosterone also has effects on the cardiovascular system and can influence blood pressure and red blood cell production (erythrocytosis). When used together, their effects on the heart and blood vessels can be additive, potentially leading to lower blood pressure or increased strain on the heart.
What you should do
Back to contentsYou should use this combination with caution. Before starting sildenafil, ensure your doctor knows you are using testosterone cream. If you feel dizzy, lightheaded, or experience a racing heartbeat, sit or lie down immediately. It is important to have your blood pressure and red blood cell count monitored regularly by your doctor while using these treatments together.
