Why this happens

Alcohol can change how the body breaks down the 'extended-release' system of Concerta, potentially causing a large dose of the drug to be released all at once (known as 'dose dumping'). Additionally, because Concerta is a stimulant and alcohol is a depressant, they compete in the central nervous system, hiding the typical signs of being drunk.

It is best to avoid or strictly limit alcohol while taking Concerta. You should be aware that drinking may increase the risk of heart-related side effects and may lead you to drink more than you intended because you do not feel the effects of the alcohol as quickly. If you choose to drink, do so very cautiously and do not drive.
