Taking naproxen (Naprosyn) with bisoprolol can make your blood pressure medication less effective. It can also increase the risk of kidney problems and stomach irritation.

Why this happens
Naproxen belongs to a group of medicines called NSAIDs. These can cause the body to hold onto salt and water, which raises blood pressure and works against bisoprolol. They also block certain chemicals (prostaglandins) that help the kidneys function and protect the stomach lining.
What you should do
Back to contentsIt is best to avoid taking naproxen while on bisoprolol unless your doctor has specifically told you to. If you must take them together, have your blood pressure checked regularly. Do not take naproxen for more than a few days at a time. If you notice swollen ankles, decreased urination, or indigestion, contact your doctor.
