Taking CBD (cannabidiol) with bisoprolol can cause your blood pressure to drop too low and your heart rate to slow down more than intended. You may feel dizzy, lightheaded, or faint. Additionally, CBD can interfere with how your liver breaks down bisoprolol, potentially leading to higher levels of the medicine in your blood.

Why this happens
Both substances can lower blood pressure and heart rate (additive effect). Furthermore, CBD can block certain liver enzymes (CYP3A4 and CYP2D6) that are responsible for clearing bisoprolol from your body, which may increase the risk of side effects.

Back to contentsYou should speak to your doctor before using CBD with bisoprolol. If you do use them together, monitor your blood pressure and heart rate regularly. Seek medical advice if you feel very dizzy or if your heart feels like it is beating very slowly.
