Why this happens

Both medications act on the central nervous system to slow down brain activity. Zopiclone is a sedative-hypnotic, and buspirone is an anti-anxiety medication. When used together, their calming effects are added together (an additive effect), which can lead to excessive sedation.

You should speak to your doctor before taking these two medicines together. If your doctor confirms it is safe for you, be aware that you may feel much more tired than usual. Do not drive, operate machinery, or perform tasks that require alertness until you know how this combination affects you. Avoid alcohol entirely, as it will make these side effects much worse.
