Drinking alcohol while taking lercanidipine can cause your blood pressure to drop too low. This can make you feel very dizzy, lightheaded, or faint. It can also increase the risk of side effects like a racing heart, headaches, or flushing (redness in the face).

Why this happens

Both lercanidipine and alcohol work by widening your blood vessels (vasodilation). When used together, this effect is much stronger, leading to a significant drop in blood pressure. Alcohol can also interfere with how your body breaks down the medication.

It is best to avoid or strictly limit alcohol while taking lercanidipine. If you do choose to drink, do so very cautiously and in small amounts. Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel dizzy or lightheaded. If you feel faint, sit or lie down immediately until the feeling passes.
