Taking these two medicines together can increase the risk of developing low sodium levels in your blood (hyponatraemia). This can make you feel tired, confused, or dizzy, and in severe cases, it can lead to more serious health problems. Why this happens
Both acetazolamide and duloxetine can cause the body to lose sodium or affect how the body regulates salt and water. Acetazolamide is a diuretic (water tablet) that increases sodium excretion through urine, while duloxetine can cause the body to retain too much water, which dilutes the sodium in your blood. When used together, these effects can combine to significantly lower your sodium levels.
