There is no known direct interaction between alcohol and mometasone furoate. However, the way mometasone is used (nasal spray, cream, or inhaler) can influence how alcohol affects your body or your condition. For example, if you are using mometasone for asthma or allergies, alcohol can sometimes trigger or worsen these symptoms in some people.

Why this happens
Mometasone is a corticosteroid that acts locally (where it is applied) and very little of it enters the bloodstream. Because it does not significantly affect the liver enzymes that process alcohol, and alcohol does not interfere with how mometasone works, there is no direct chemical interaction.
What you should do
Back to contentsYou can generally drink alcohol in moderation while using mometasone. However, if you notice that alcohol makes your allergy or asthma symptoms worse, you may wish to limit your intake. If you are using mometasone for a skin condition, be aware that alcohol can cause skin flushing or dehydration, which might irritate the area.
