Can I take Allopurinol and Felodipine together?

Why this happens

Allopurinol (used for gout) and felodipine (a calcium channel blocker for blood pressure) are processed by different pathways in the body. Allopurinol is primarily cleared by the kidneys, while felodipine is broken down by specific enzymes in the liver (CYP3A4). Because they do not compete for the same 'processing machinery,' they do not interfere with each other's levels in the blood.

You can continue taking both medications as prescribed by your doctor. As with any blood pressure medication, you should monitor for side effects like dizziness or swollen ankles, but these are not increased by taking allopurinol.
