There is no known interaction between apixaban and inulin powder. Inulin is a type of soluble fibre (prebiotic) that is not absorbed into the bloodstream and does not interfere with how apixaban works.

Why this happens
Apixaban is absorbed in the stomach and small intestine and processed by specific liver enzymes (CYP3A4). Inulin is a carbohydrate that passes mostly unchanged into the large intestine to be broken down by gut bacteria. It does not affect the absorption, metabolism, or blood-thinning effects of apixaban.
What you should do
Back to contentsYou can safely take inulin powder while taking apixaban. However, as with any high-fibre supplement, it is best to take it with plenty of water. If you experience significant digestive changes like severe diarrhoea, contact your doctor, as extreme changes in digestion can occasionally affect how medications are absorbed.
