Can I take Atorvastatin and Vitamin d3 1000 together?

Taking Vitamin D3 alongside atorvastatin may slightly lower the levels of the statin in your blood. However, this is generally not considered harmful and may even be beneficial for some patients.

Why this happens

Vitamin D and atorvastatin are processed by the same enzyme in the liver (CYP3A4). Vitamin D can increase the activity of this enzyme, which helps the body break down the statin more quickly. Additionally, Vitamin D may help reduce the risk of muscle pain, which is a common side effect of statins.

What you should do

You can continue taking both together. There is no need to change your dose unless advised by your doctor. If you notice any new or worsening muscle pain, or if you are concerned about your cholesterol levels, speak with your GP or pharmacist.
