Why this happens
Both medicines work to lower blood pressure but in different ways. Carvedilol is a beta-blocker that slows the heart and relaxes blood vessels, while telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that prevents blood vessels from narrowing. When used together, their effects add up. Additionally, both drugs can affect how your kidneys handle potassium, potentially leading to high potassium levels (hyperkalaemia).
