Taking these two medicines together can increase the levels of oxcarbazepine's active form in your blood, which may lead to more side effects like dizziness, drowsiness, or double vision. At the same time, oxcarbazepine can lower the levels of cenobamate in your body, potentially making it less effective at controlling seizures.

Why this happens
Cenobamate slows down the enzymes (CYP2C19) that break down oxcarbazepine, leading to higher levels in the body. Conversely, oxcarbazepine speeds up the enzymes (CYP3A4) that clear cenobamate from your system, which can lower its concentration.
What you should do

Your doctor may need to reduce your dose of oxcarbazepine while monitoring your seizure control closely.
