Drug interaction guide

Taking duloxetine and lamotrigine together may increase the risk of certain side effects, particularly those affecting the central nervous system. Why this happens

Both medications affect chemicals in the brain. While they work in different ways, their effects on the central nervous system can add together (an additive effect), making side effects like dizziness or sleepiness more likely. There is also a theoretical, though low, risk regarding how these drugs affect serotonin levels.

This combination is generally considered safe to take together, but you should be aware of how you feel. If you experience significant dizziness, confusion, or unusual changes in your mood or coordination, contact your doctor. Do not stop taking either medication without consulting your healthcare provider first, as stopping suddenly can cause withdrawal symptoms or a return of your original symptoms.
