Important precautions
Back to contentsParkinson's disease
Fluanxol can significantly worsen the symptoms of Parkinson's disease and should generally be avoided.
Heart rhythm disorders (Long QT syndrome)
Fluanxol can affect your heart rhythm. You must tell your doctor if you have a history of heart rhythm problems or are taking other medicines that affect the heart.
Iron absorption interference
Do not take iron supplements within 2 hours of taking fluanxol or other medications, as iron can prevent your body from properly absorbing your other medicines.
Accidental ingestion by children
Keep iron supplements strictly out of reach of children. An overdose of iron is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under 6 years old.
Food and drink warnings

Eggs and Whole Grains
Foods containing phytates (like whole-grain cereals) and certain proteins in eggs can interfere with iron absorption. It is best to take iron on an empty stomach, or with a small amount of food that does not include these items if the supplement upsets your stomach.
