Why this happens
Lactulose is a laxative that stays in the bowel and is not absorbed into the bloodstream. Ropinirole is absorbed into the blood to treat Parkinson's disease or Restless Legs Syndrome. Because they work in different parts of the body and are processed through different pathways, they do not interfere with each other.
What you should do
You can continue taking both medicines as prescribed. However, if you experience severe diarrhoea from the lactulose, this could theoretically affect how other medicines are absorbed. If you have persistent diarrhoea, speak to your doctor or pharmacist.

Taking them together may increase the risk of developing serious infections, anaemia (low red blood cells), or bruising and bleeding problems.
