Ingredients for Aguas frescas (Mexican fruit coolers)
100 g caster sugar
960 ml water
480 g chopped fruit (watermelon, cantaloupe, pineapple, papaya, strawberries, oranges, peaches, mangoes, or any combination)
ice cubes
lemon or lime wedges (optional)
How to make Aguas frescas (Mexican fruit coolers)
Stir the sugar and water together in a large jug until the sugar dissolves.
Measure out 240 ml of the sugar water.
Purée the fruit and the measured sugar water in a blender until smooth.
Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve back into the jug, mashing with a whisk or wooden spoon to eliminate any pulp.
Taste and add more sugar if desired.
Serve over ice, garnished with a lemon or lime wedge if preferred.
