Ingredients for Lágrimas de la Virgen (Beet cooler with fruits)

  • 4 red beets, peeled, diced

  • 1,920 ml water

  • 200 g caster sugar

  • 1 small apple (Fuji or McIntosh), peeled, diced

  • 1 banana, diced

  • 1 small orange, peeled, diced

  • 4 leaves romaine lettuce, cut into thin strips

  • Juice of 1 lime

How to make Lágrimas de la Virgen (Beet cooler with fruits)

  1. Peel the beets and cut them into chunks. Pass the chunks through a juicer.

  2. Combine the water and sugar in a pitcher and stir until the sugar has dissolved. Add the beet juice and mix well.

  3. Refrigerate the mixture until completely chilled.
